Well I am sitting here at work. It was going to be a half day for me. I had plans to go over to MI's office hang out with him for awhile then meet with a friend and get ready for our trip to mexico tomorrow. So I walk out to the parking lot where I work. I am talking on my cell phone so I am not really looking where I am going. You see I always park in the same spot.
Well today there was a BMW M5 sitting where I parked my '05 Land Rover LR3 HSE just this morning. On the ground was a small amount of glass and a rock the size of my fist. My heart sunk for a min or so. I was like "No F&$*ing way this is happening to me. Who the f*$% steals a friggin Land Rover". I told my buddy who did what most buddys do, they laughed, then quickly said "that sucks man". Yeah it does suck "man".
I called the cops who send me two rather portly looking female officers. (Chamblee's finest). First they ask me if it was repoed. I told them that was impossable since it was already paid off. It was mine. Not the banks. I showed them the glass and the rock. They stood there looking at them both like they were a foreign object not of this world.
I thought, "Jesus, dont Cagney and Lacey here know my truck is off somewhere getting hacked up? Are they going to do anything?". After about a 30 seconds of looking the rock and the glass they tell me that they have had three cars stolen from PDK so far this year. Mine would be the fourth.
So we fill out the reports, I put the call into the insurance company. They are giving me a rental car, and sending out an investgator since the truck is worth more than 50 grand. But the question still remainds, who the f&$% steals a friggin Land Rover? Why would you do that?
A really pissed off Kegger26.

I feel for you.
I had a truck stolen about 7 years ago. It was a Dodge 2500 Diesel with the extended cab and long box. Have you ever seen a truck like that? It is as long as a friggin aircraft carrier. Totally useless to drive around it unless you have a business or tow trailers.
Yet someone stole it.
I found out from the police that it was probably stolen to order and shipped overseas to Russia. It never turned up.

let me answer that for you...

sorry to hear.
where in Chamblee did this happen?
i ask because my Dad lives in dunwoody off spalding dr.
kind of odd to hear about a smash-and-grab in that area. it is rather nice IIRC, and would kind of stick out like a sore thumb with a busted window, unless they hopped onto the 400 and ran like a race horse.
speaking of... if they did hop on the 400 and not pay the toll, you might be getting a ticket in the mail or something. keep that in mind

when i saw the title of the thread... and read BMW X5... i thought the situation was a lot worse and you had shopped your Land Rover for a crappy BMW.
Get a new one on insurance?
-
your rover is in a shipping container heading for south america.
-
It happend at Peachtree Deklab Airport. Yes I will be getting a new one. I am not sure when though. They told me pretty much the same thing Habu. They said trucks like mine dont normaly get hacked up. They end up in some other country. WTF? I swear to god if I ever see a green LR3 with a small nick in the left back bumper where my ex gf couldnt drive I am going to go ape S&@$.
The movie gone in 60 secs will never be the same to me anymore.

starcom would have been nice to have at that moment.

Indeed, I've had the displeasure of working at a Land Rover dealership/repair shop.

Sorry, Kegger, that sucks!
For your replacement, are you going to consider LoJack? I've hear arguments for/against it. One side, it seems like it would be great to have a better chance to get your car back (assuming they don't park it in a shipping container/faraday cage right away). The other school of thought seems to be 'I'd rather it NOT be found so insurance can pay for a replacement, instead of me getting a chopped hulk back that never drives straight again'.
I can see why #2 is appealing, but I'm in the first camp. I have personal stuff in my car that I'd want back, and those radio presets... the insurance company can't replace THOSE! :D
Your thoughts?

ahh yes, the joy of owning something nice. i had a nice car once. stolen in El Paso, found out that the company i was getting my insurance from got ripped off too. by the owner. he collected the money for three months and didnt buy the insurance from the big companys like he was supposed too. then left the country. so i was SOL. i have never owned a nice outfit again. save yourself the agrivation, get something that runs good but has no bling-bling value.

Where at PDK do you work? I fly out of American Air every monday and weds....small world!

I had a pickup stolen once. Also had my house broken into several times before I moved. It's kinda hard to describe what it feels like when someone has ransacked your house.

Ehh screw it. I am over the truck it's self. The stuff inside is what is crushing me. I am going to get another rover. I really loved mine. I am gonna miss that truck. As for getting somthing with bling, that is a toughy. Sometimes I have to drive ppl around from the airport. I fly part time for Coca Cola and I have had to pick up some really important ppl up in my truck. So I cant have a beater or else I would...maybe.
Nacho I work for aviation atlanta as a flight instructor and I do some side work for EPPS Aviation. So I am always at that feild. Check in the Gen Dis forum and click on the..screw it. Click here--> http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=149833
We get together every Thursday night at 5:30PM in buckhead. My contact info is in that thread. Come hang out sometime.
As for me this whole thing today won me some sympathy points from this chick I am dating. So I atleast made out well tonight. *evil grin*

Wow that sucks. Although I know a few guys up in Jamaica, NY who have told me about a bunch of black market automobile dealers selling stolen high end SUV's here and shipping them all over the world.
-
I suggest you get one of these (http://www.big-boys.com/articles/trunkmonkey.html) in your next LR. Hope it chears you up.:lol

ROFLMAO. That was great thanks. I love the part where the monkey is holding the stick about to wack him. Plus my three year old son loves monkeys so I am going to have to look into a system like this. Lol.
