We're getting only a little percentage of the TV series produced in the US, and usualy have to wait a few years before these few get here (They're still showing "Magnum PI" on national TV here  )
So, I've been digging a few series on the intardnet, and found the following to be ok.
- Lost (think of it as a "Survivor", but with special effects, and no sex)
- Taken
- 4400
- 24
- Six feet under
- ... ???
Sandman (or was it Nash) recommended "Cut" or something similar (can't remember now) but that isn't my thing...
I'm mainly looking for good SF type of series (BSG was great... but short!)
Any recomendations?
-
Lost is good (on here now)
24 is ok (in its 3d or 4th season now)
4400 is starting here on may 26th.
six feet under sounds familiar.
Dont think ive heard of Taken
Not sure what your question was, but im such a filthy attention potato that ill do anything for abit of exposure
have a nice day
:aok <---- gotta love him!
-
Gimme good (new) series name, pretty please :)
(Wussat clear enough for ya sailor boy?) :D
-
Falcon Crest :)
-
<--- Gotta love this one! :D
-
Stargate SG-1 is still one of my favorites.
SF series are dieing fast here. People have to watch others in more misery than themselves so all we are getting are these lousy *reality* shows anymore.
Canada seems to be the only place still cranking out good sci-fi.
-
Canada? I was talking SF, not SM Skuzzy ;)
(What good Canadian series are you talking about?)
I couldn't get into "SG-1" everytime I see Dean-Anderson, I think he's going to make a Titan rocket out of a TP roll & a couple of matches... my buddy at work is realy into it & has all 7 seasons on DVD.
I was watching Star Trek enterprize for a while, but it got boring fast...
-
- Lost, of course
- BSG, 2nd season starts this july
- Desperate Housewives (not bad for a funny, dark soap)
- House
- Arrested Development (catch the first two seasons from bittorrent)
edit: oops you said SF... not much at the moment I'm afraid... if you count Medium and Revelations as SF, then there's 2 :P

Shame they canned Good versus evil on SF.
-
Thank you everyone!
-
deperate housewives
sapranos
deadwood
all are being shown here in germany.

Damn near every *original* series and all the original movies on Sci-Fi channel comes out of Canada.
Andromeda (eye-candy makes it ok)
Both Stargate series (SG-1 and Atlantis)
Battlestar Galactica
Enterprise has been cancelled so this week's 2 hour finale is the last one.
Desparate Howives? You have got to be kidding?
-
Firefly
Best SF series to air in the last ten years.
By far.
-
Hmmm... never heard of "Cut".
I've got a few friends that rave about "Smallville" but I haven't watched it.
-
It was Nip/Tuck.
-
Farscape ruled ... to bad its done .. BSG sorta fills in but its not the same .
SG-1 just doesnt have enough glue for me.
-
"The Shield" is pretty good cop series. Also check out "Rescue Me".
-
Ditto on "The Shield". FX has come out with some good originals. "Rescue Me" and "Nip/Tuck" are great, too.
-
Good stuff lads :)
Nash, I don't know why I always mistake you with Sandman... I have the same thing with Toad/Towd (that's bound to make one of those two happy)
Must be ... too much...wheat... in too little brain of mine.

The Shield rocks ! brillant, well written, dark and violent...
I'd have loved to see a NYPD blue/the Shield crossover, just to have a child molester locked in an interview room with Andy Sipowicz and Vic Mackey !

Here's a little trick to tell the difference.
If it's some kind of rant, argument, knock on Bush, illogical train of thought....
Then that would be Sandman.
I'm the nice one.
-
deadwood
firefly
the shield
those are the ones I care to watch.
As I recall... good vs evil wasn't bad.

I like "House" The Doctor is a real salamander but I like it lol..
It's Fox's version of "ER" which I think sucked.

Yea sure... but no one has ever seen both of you at the same party together..... hmmmmmmm?

an even more disturbing thought...
What if MT doesn't really even have a wife? What if most of the things he prints are really him saying them and he actually suffers from some rare transgender disorder?

Any of the CSI series (although as they progress I get less interested)
Any of the Law & Order series (see above), although SVU is pretty good.
House is a darn good doctor show. Irreverent, funny.
The Shield is awesome. Nuff said.
SciFi I like Stargate: Atlantis. SG-1 was an improvement over the movie, but I still never could really get into it. Atlantis rocks.
Lost is pretty good too, but it seems to be hot and cold for me. Sometimes I'm wrapped up in it, trying to figure out the mysteries, other times I cant seem to like it.

Thats entirely the reason I like it.
He's such a salamander you cant help but like him
-
I like:
Battlestar Galactica
Dead Like Me
Enterprise
Don't think I watch any other TV apart from Dr Who.
-
I just saw the commercial for 4400, and I must say it looked pretty cool. Never heard of it until then.
Taken was mini series, about 6 episodes, Produced by Spielberg, it was good, I watched it and enjoyed it.
Im not to big into SciFi.
I usually find myself watching History International, Military Discovery Science, Times, Health. I just wish they would produce some new programming, I usually only watch the History Channel when I see a program that looks good. Then late nights im watching Adult Swim :D
Speaking of Adult Swim, was interested in knowing if anybody here visits or read there Forums.
-
I thought "Stand by me" on Fox was alright. (Was series about firefighters, always been into firefighter movies, "backdraft" is one of my favorites.)
The crabbing season, dont know real name and too lazy to look it up, on the Discovery channel was cool, only 3 episodes or there abouts.
Flava Flave!!!!!!!!! Dont watch Strange love, whatever you do.

Oh yea, forgot MXC. Not really a series but still funny as heck.

I'm there from time to time. I watch quite a bit of Adult Swim. Futurama, Family Guy, Harvey Birdman, Robot Chicken, ATHF, Sealab. My favorite is The Venture Brothers.
-
I still watch Combat!
The Shield is great though.

I'm with Bluedog on this one, just bought the series on dvd
from Amazon for about $35 and it rocks. Looking forward to
the Sept 30th movie release.
-
I agree... firefly was the best ever.
I also bought all the "Combat" series available. I just got the second season of "have Gun-will travel" and it is as good as the first.

Laz,
I just received "Firefly" this week which I bought on your recommendation. Enjoyed the first episode and am looking forward to the rest of them.
Thanks!
Both my sons would love "Combat!" I think, though the series I remember better from my yout was "12 o'clock High". I wonder if that is available on DVD?
-
oboe... you are welcome.
I don't know your sons ages or tastes but the Have gun will travel series is a very good one. The moral value is very high in my opinion and it is clever beyond any writing you see today. The man is an opera and poetry fan who lives in a 4 star hotel and was a graduate of west point and was in the war... he sends his card (have gun-will travel) out based on interesting articles in the paper.
He often changes his support based on the morality of the situation. He allways trys to do the right thing.
Very good show to let boys watch. Richard Boone is so cool that you forget he is a pock marked gravel voice with an enormous honker and a used car salesman mustache and it becomes believable that all the women can't resist him....
now that is acting.

I really cant get into the Venture Brothers.
Tom goes to the Mayor, is shreckin hillarious!

Lost:
Was ok, got hoocked at the start... but in the end, it's just a fancy episode of "Survivor"... I liked the "John Lock" character a lot.
Firefly:
Good stuff, didn't like the 1st episodes (I missed the pilot, and saw it afterwards). There's another BALDWIN I discovered in that one(How many are there???), he's one of my fav characters . I looked at the trailer of the upcommin "Serenity" movie... that li'll girl sur kicks some ***! there are 15 episodes so far.. I hope they plan on carying this one on!
Taken: Am only at episode 4 so far (80 mins/episode). The story is pretty good, some characters are a bit bland... but all in all, not bad so far. (You *realy* start to dislike that colonel after a while...)
The Shield:
Am not too fond of Cop series... but that bald guy seems ok in my book (;)) ... can't say I've been "waiting" to see the next episode, but it looks better than your average "Polic blues" cr**.
-
Firefly is great.. I don't think the baldwin guy is one of the baldwin brothers.
The shield is the only TV show I record to watch.

Oh?
Hell... If you want to succeed in the media world and had a name like that...i thought a name change would be mandatory!

You wish!
BTW I loved "Have Gun Will Travel". Didn't know it was out on DVD.. thanks for the heads up. Remember Boone in "Heck Ramsey"? Used to alternate with Columbo and McCloud and McMillan & Wife .

Me too, it's the only show I follow actively. Can't praise it enough.

Sliders
-
Coupla oldies..
'V'
and the classic.. 'the Invaders'. Late '60's. Was it Roy Thinnes? The unforgetable 'pinky' test. LOL.
Of course, 'the Outer Limits' and Twilight Zone are keepers fer sure.
-
The Wire.
The best cop show in a long while.
