Last Friday afternoon I started getting calls on my cell phone from a fax machine. It happens everyday between 4 and 6 pm they are about 10 mins. apart.
My phone is my work/personal phone. I keep it on until I go to bed because I have crews/ customers out of state and I need to be available. I have had the same number for 5 years and it totally unfeasible to have my number changed.
I have talked to Verizon about it and they tell my phone does not have anyway to block the number and there is nothing they can do for me.
I have had my secretary Fax the number back with letters asking to be taken off this fax list or what ever I have gotten on. Still getting the calls.
Really starting to be very annoying. My phone is getting to be totally unusable between the 4-6 time period. I have started turning it off and just checking messages every hour.
I am at a loss and would welcome any suggestions as I am sure the collective mass of gray matter on this board will come up with a very easy and simple solution.

Try reverse lookup, find them, and in person express your displeasure....or just spam their fax machine with crap 24/7.

First thing I tried last friday was reverse look up.
It was was an unavailable number.
Fax # 1-817-429-0241
Shows DFW area code.
Go for it.
Maybe someone else has another way to reverse look-up.

If all else fails, have your phone forward calls during that time to a real fax machine so that you can receive the fax and determine who the heck it is from.
Verizon call forwarding (regular wireless rates apply)
To Activate:
1) Press *72
2) Enter the phone number where you want calls to be fowarded eg) *72-908-123-4567
3) Press "SEND" and wait for confirmation
You should hear a confirmation tone or a message "Your feature has been activated"
4) Press "END"
To Deactivate:
1) Press *73
2) Press "SEND" and wait for confirmation
You should hear a confirmation tone or a message "Your feature has been de-activated"
3) Press "END"

Can you log into your webpage at your provider (verizon) and read the fax from there? My provider has that service and you can send/recive text messsages, faxes, e-mail from that webpage and also trace/lookup numbers.

File a complaint with the FCC. The sender is breaking a federal law.

Try calling a few numbers above and below it, If it is a company with a block of numbers you should be able to reach someone

It is interesting because the law states that unsolicited faxes may not be sent to fax machines, and that fax servers and personal PCs are also covered by these FCC rules. But I wonder if there is a precedent regarding sending unsolicited faxes to cellphones?

Unsolicited telephone calls to a cell phone are illegal.

Spoke to a real sweet lady at Texas Reconstruction. She was nice but got a chuckle out of it but no Fax number of 0241.
Tried 0240 disconnected.
The witching hour is upon me.
Will try the call forward trick.
My luck the fax called in sick tonight.

i can tell you why they are like that. it is the fax machine auto-attempting to connect again. usually most fax machines are set to 3 attempts then a failed transmission message is either displayed or printed.
if the sender got that usually the first thing office people do is try again, then you'd be getting another bank of 3 calls.
a smart person would have looked into why the transmission failed, but never count on smartness in the office world.

can you get the number of the incoming call?
if yes can you assigned a different ring to that call or to calls from whatever is showing up as that call
this way you at least would know not to answer that call

Quit fussing around with it and file a complaint with the FCC. I think you can even do it at thier WEB site.
