Title: Dora slower than before
Post by: woozel on May 13, 2005, 05:38:26 PM
Is it just my imagination, or has the 190 D9 lost a good bit of speed since the last remodel?

I fly a Dora almost all the time, and have done for years.  I am convinced that not only has it lost some speed, and it has also lost a lot of acceleration.  If HT's case for this is that it is more accurate, then I hope they hurry up and "accurize" the other planes as well to put things back into perspective...

Using DTs?

 The ETC bombrack is now a major factor in work.

 If you want the Dora's full speed of 375mph at deck, you have to fly a clean plane. No bombs or DTs.

FM has not been adjusted according toPyro's comments on this board...

kweassa is correct, in the new plane models the bomb racks exert drag unlike in the past.

since the ki84, b24, p38 series, and 190 series are the only ones modeled ot AHII standarde, they "suffer" from the newly inputted drag

though i will say if kewassa's tests were right, i think the 190 d9 suffers a it much un-due drag from a simple drop tank rack.. losing 14 mph because of that tiny thing????

The bombrack itself causes 8mph loss.

 from the 190 Speed tests thread;

Quote

-Fw190D-9-
cfg1(MG151/20 x2): 375mph
cfg1 @ 21,000ft: 427mph
w/bombrack(bomb intact(500kg)): 355mph (-20mph)
w/bombrack(bomb dropped): 367mph (-8mph)
