A question about the new google desktop search and that new microsoft search tool...
Is either one of them game friendly? The old microsoft indexer was horrible for games because every 30 min or so it would grab most of the cpu and thrash on the hard drive for a few minutes. The new utilities do a lot more indexing than the old index tool ever did, so I'm wondering if they're as poorly behaved in gaming situations.
TIA!

I still haven't been able to figure out why anyone would need one.

Well, I installed the google desktop search and within an hour used it to find a document I was sure I had, but couldn't find. Then I used it to find the email with the link I used to download a video several months ago.
I think it will be quite useful, and after monitoring it's progress it seems to use almost zero cpu when you're using the computer, and not a whole lot of memory either.
I'll have to see if it remains nice though.

Windows has a built in search function and I've been able to find whatever I needed with that for ages. Can't see any benefit from installing a third party program which is a huge security risk too.
