....and I am not talking about WWII Online.

The IL2 Sturmovik beta has been sent to Ubisoft for printing and distribution to testers.

That means nothing unless you, like me, have been waiting over two years for it.

I know that many here are watching IL2, not to replace AH but to add to their flightsimming  experience.

Online is supposed to handle up to 32 so no competition for AH there but if it works well there will be historic Eastern Front battles to be fought and the Luftwaffe will get planes not built by Americans and Englishmen.

Hey Pollock, get into some AH Russian fighters, I am gonna need some protection for my IL2.

The JU52 may be flyable later too but not in initial release.

A good thing about this one is that some of those SDOE modellers, who are very good by the way, are working on non flyables which Maddox says will be free addons and flyable after they are submitted to them for FM and DM installation.

None will be released as flyable until Maddox says they are ready though.

This could be the one but we all know how lousy boxed sims turn out online.

My hope for this one is the fact that Oleg, way back even before AH was here, stated that IL2 was being optimized for online play as well as offline.

IL2 will only make me play more Aces High.

It will give me a historical campaign fix and ground attack gameplay, and BEAUTIFUL graphics.
But still nothing replaces AH's air to air combat.

Careful now, we don't want to HYPE_KILL another 'messiah' now do we?

I belive it was hype that killed the rat, so until I've tried this second coming I'll keep the salt in handy.

I will let you guys know how IL-2 works both and offline hopefully sometime this week or next. I was one of the few that made the Beta   :cool:

It might just be me, but it looks like an old Ford Tri Motor with pontoons straped to it main landing gear.  :confused:
