Title: Do seagulls recognize individual people?
Post by: Nilsen on May 14, 2005, 01:52:06 PM
We have a pair of them next to our pier and they don't mind us, but they get upset if anyone else walks past. They are nesting and I belive they have eggs there.

Kinda interestin to just sit here and watch them do their thing.

Any birdy lovers / ornidorks here?

Breaded and deep fried seagulls surpizingly don't taste like the rats with wings they really are.

Birds are closer to lizards than mammals which rats are, maybe that's why.

Haven't tried that, but I ate eggs once. They are often eaten by the wierdoes up north.

Don't remember what they tasted like tho, cause I was in the navy at the time and not very sober.

Nils, perhaps you have been around them enough that they recognise you are not a threat.

I think pigeons do. One lives in my work building. He has one leg so I named him Cap'n Ahab. I was walking home to the bus stop one day and I notice him sitting in fenced in closed gas station. As I walked by he looked up and had this what the hell are you doing here expression, then went back to looking for food.

Actually Nilsen, they are lulling you into a false sense of security.  Once you totally relax they'll attack.

Slept pretty good considering I have the flu. Robitussin and codine make a great sleeping potion.

I'm 43 and I've been dating the same woman for the last 4 years.

I spent 4 years sailing the Bering and I'm a Blue Nosed Polar Bear, so the weather is not a problem. Oh, and I do enjoy the MILF.;)

So you wold not say no if I made a serious invite?

You could bring the MILF

You would not be alone tho, I (we) are thinking about inviting a few others from the bbs too.

Fishing, waterskiing, drinking, eating lobster/crabs and some sightseeing.

If the parrots can, why not seagulls.
Apparently even fishes can, after a good while.

I'd definitely be up for it, sounds like fun. But doubt I could get off work long enough. Just started a new job a couple months ago and don't have any vacation time for a while.:(  But if you ever come to Texas you have an open invite to come to the ranch.
