My guess is the de Havilland Hornet, perhaps an F Mk I with Merlin130/131 engines.

It's not a hornet.  It looks like a cross between a mossie and the whirlwind.  I'm guessing it's something from westland, no idea what it is called though.

You're right, wrong tail for the Hornet.... but wrong forward fusalge for the Whirlwind...and the tail is different too....
