An idea to promote squads and game play.
When a squad captures a base the base name is changed. ie. A5 becomes A5-FZ when a Flying Zoo member captures a base. Each squad chooses a 2 letter code.
1) Glory for the bus drivers. (I bet there will be no shortage of drivers)
2) Glory for squads. (I'm thinking squads will take bases and attempt to hold them.)
This makes for fun machups, squad against squad. Squads could become the leadership of the countries, requesting help and co-operating with other squads.
I predict taking back a base would become more important than resetting.
-
It would certainly encourage more teamwork. The criteria would need to be clear, as many times more than one squad are working on taking the same base.
I vote "AYE"!

Might have an opposite effect also. Imagine a squad busting up a field for a half hour. Then some goober from another squad shows up with the drunks and his squad gets the naming rights.
They say NP we got a base....so off they go to fight for another base and here comes ole goober and once again his squad gets the base naming rights for kicking a buncha drunks out over a field that the other squad worked hard for. After a while they are gonna say, "why bother".
IMHO, the real team (countrymen) effort is when a field is taken and everyone shares the credit for the job well done.

I predict that squads will go where there is co-operation and respect. We've seen how that can change a country.
=========================
Yes you will get un-cooperative morons who will sneak a goon in, but if he's not in a squad, no credit.
If he is in a squad, then his squad might help him with manners.
Past that the community knows how to deal with morons. "Dweeb hunt anyone?"

Would be cool to to add squad as a sortie scoring option..
Like now we have bomber, fighter, attack, and whatever...
Thatd be a cool way to compare squad performances.... but maybe I held that gas can up to my nose for too long... :D

Lazarr, you already can. Get yer squad up and take every field under fake sun. Shoot down all the bad guys, bomb em into the stone age, run jabo missions and your squad will be number one in the game. Go look at the stats. They already give you and idea how you squad is doing compared to others.

Big squads, Squads with high hour players, small squads, and or squads that don't have high hour players. How do you think they would compare?
You have elite and noobie squads. Ground, furball, and bomber squads.
If a squad takes a base, then immediately takes off for another base, but another squad stays and defends that base against a retake, who is the better squad? At first blush, the guys getting their name in lights. We all know you don't get anything for pulling defense now so, the practical thing to do to get your squad "Name in Lights" would be for all squads to abandon the base they just took and move on to the next.
Just sayin'

I think it would have an effect both ways.
On the plus side, it would promote people to start working together and stop doing this self complaining attitude that people get when they complain about no one helping them.
On the negative side though, it would promote people to join larger squads and these little squads would fade out. Also you would have people fighting over glory as there is now about people complaining I wanted that kill and don't kill that plane I want it, etc.
So either way there are plus and negative sides to your idea.

This would just encourage mass squad milkruns in the MA and no one would ever fight each other.
Gameplay would just get worse.

I think we'll always see generals who just have to go take or protect some far off field. There's nothing wrong with someone checking your 6 but they sometimes forget many people are already involved in some sort of activity and they may be leaving others in the middle of that fight. Be that as it may help sometimes arrives on time , sometimes not. It's prolly a good idea not to get too steamed over it because your time will come again. IMHO, it's a big arena and many chances to protect and take fields.
I still see squads participating in all sorts of things within the game. One squad might be flying Hi cap to protect the taking of the field. Another may be in on the field to close down the town for taking. Someone else from two entirely different squads might be enroute with 2 goons. Then you have alot of non-squad folks up helping (and some may be learning what its all about).
Anyway, the finished product ends up as a fine team effort put on by the countrymen who got together to make it happen. IMHO, it doesn't get much better than those for those who particpated. :)
Does there really need to be a point value on that?
Just asking....

Alright, here's how I think it needs to be run.
If someone captures a field, they get a global message giving them credit.
If a mission is upped, and a field is taken, a global message along with the capture message will go out crediting the squad with highest percentage of people in the mission (not a single person).

And if the highest percentage is not in any squad?
Like some of the furballlers have said, they are not interested in taking bases, so conceivably, they could have the most numbers there. They would get credit while not actively trying to take the base.
Same goes to the vulcher squads. You know the guys that holler "Don't take down the FH" , don't take down the town, but you have 20 of them circling the airfield. They don't even want the field to be captured, they just want shoot aircraft on the runway until their ammo is expended then fly home and land their kills. They could get a "Proxy field" :D

Ownership is a powerful motivater.
Remember when we got kill message when we killed someone. ("Killjoy shot down xxxx") Now thats owned.
If we gave ownership of the base to the squad that captures it we unlease some powerful social forces.
Yes, I think there would be disagreements and one squad sneaking a capture. I also think this is healthy. It fosters co-operation or not. If not, then that is an advantage for your enemy isn't it.
Yes, I think it will aggregate bigger squads. This is called organization. Is there room for smaller squads? Yes. It's not the nature of the AH cutlure to allow a dictatorship or even oligarchy. But I just like seeing the word oligarchy.
What will happen when two or more squads are taking a base? I don't know. Thats the social engineering part.
Is there room for the furballers? Why not? I don't see anything changing. If the squads take one base, there's always the next to furball at.
The rules are simple:
1) If a squad member captures a base the base is renamed for that squad (A6 becomes A6-FZ).
2) If your not a member of a squad, there is no name change.
I'll say it again, "Ownership is a powerful motivator."
