Pyro said they are aiming the advert at military history buffs.
i really think it would be wasting money. i do appreciate that a few of the american players found out about ah on the military channel, but it is my belief that most who are into this wont want to play a pc game:(
instead, i think u should be aiming the ad at a wider audience. i personally found the game on gamerevolution.com, and didnt even realise it was online!!! people who play ah were into pc games before, and therefore, i really think the ad should be aimed at a gamer audience.
showing it to historian wont get as big a turnout i dont think. can i get pyro ir hitechs thoughts on this please??
-
I agree with this 100% I mean not everybody has the military channel. How about G4 Tv :D
-
thanks jet, good to see im not nuts:)
also, is there any chance of a small ad in britain. i know for a fact that there is great interest in stuff like this over here. certainly wouldnt be a waste of time:aok
-
If you wanted to advertise one way to go would be to approach the various air museums and ask if you could be sponsor with a view to handing out a brochure or be added to their brochure.....
-
how about a 30 second superbowl add?
-
lol, but i was tryin to take the serious path
schadens prolly right too, i would be quite happy to give out leaflets at raf museum here if htc sent me some stuff to print out.
bit of free advertising?
however my main concern is still tv ad, military channel is not a wise path i feel.
can one member of htc staff please post something, id like to have a serious chat

You know how to correct this dont you? Heres a hint...go out and start your own company. Then you can play Aces High tycoon all day long. HTC has been around for sometime now. So I for one trust Dale's abillitys to make good judgement calls so that HTC will be around for years to come. Lets just do our part pay our 15$ a month and stop playing board room quarterback.

well said kegger
-
I think this is one of those deals where a direct email to HT or Pyro is a better path than posting on the BBS.
Glove
-
well said gloves, ure right, bbs is not the place for stuff like this because people like kegger have to interfere with unhelpful remarks. kegger, its a bbs, people will have different opinions to you, so next time u feel like insults STFU:mad:

Could be they prefer to advertise to the older more mature type of players. They have the credit cards, teens don't usually. Don’t know, but what you say pooface makes sense to me. Granted I know nothing about marketing or advertising.
-
Pooface: Althow I aprecieate your concern we do have a fair amout of knowledge about how to advertise our product. And I realy do not care to discuss that knowledge .

It's very likely that we'll expand our advertising into other areas, but this particular ad will run on the military channel. If we go with ads on a computer gaming show for example, we'd probably want a different style of commercial.
No flames please.
-
I think the air museum idea has merit, but instead of pamphlets, have a computer set up there running AH that the guests could actually try it out on, possibly running in the training arena or something.
If a person is visiting am air museum, then you know they already have an interest in historical aviation.
Being able to see an actual P-51, for example, then be able to take a virtual one up in the skies while the memories of what you've just seen are fresh in your head would seem to have some appeal, I'd think.
I remember several years ago at an air show I went to, someone had set up a sim-pit and was running "Aces of the Pacific" in it on a large screen. There was always a long line to be able to sit in the sim for a few minutes and see if you could actually fly the planes that were parked outside.
-
With TOD coming up, the military channel should be a good place to advertise..
-
Don't know about advertising but if I was HT, I would let Pyro do the BBS postings :p :rofl
-
The military channel is a great source of older former military guys who want to shoot down cartoon opponents. most likely they can also afford $14.95 indefinitely.

Of course you know, don't you, that with the audience you're talking about attracting you're going to further devolve the maturity level and intelligence of the MA, in general. Bunch o' 14 y.o. newbs who's vocabulary is comprised mostly of four-letter words, and won't progress past HOing, and dive-bombing buffs.

Ahh yes!
But their money is green!
-
Yeah, I think HT's right on target. The last thing the game needs is a influx of kiddos.
We have some now and for the most part they are well behaved and fun to fly with, but ya get too many and the nature of the game would change.

Should have said for the Uk - but the market is so tiny here that and with say 95% of their proposed customer base in the USA that Tv/Web advertising aiming at that base would be most cost effective.
-
ok, some good points made. this is what the bbs is about. its obvious that ht and pyro have thought about it in more detail than i, and have plans for later, so i gracefully accept defeat :)
thanks for feedback anyway htc guys, that was cool.
sorry ht, i didnt mean to just poke around like that, and shoulda really thought it over first:rolleyes:
anyway, my offer still stands, if u send me stuff to print out, i'll happily do some free advertising over here.
anyway, thankyou all

Superbowl ad could have a wardrobe malfunction or a miss-spelled word on purpose...

Just noticed your sig, Big Lebowski fan huh?
One of my fav's too.
The part where he drops his "smoke" in his lap and wipes out his car on the dumpster still cracks me up for the millionth time everytime I watch it.
Here's to The Dude!

With the big WWII show coming up in June at Reading, a test run of the the flier idea might be in order there. I know there are any number of AH pilots going to be there, and they could generate some talk at a show where people talk about nothing but WWII.
-
Yeah Lebowski easily surpasses Citizen Kane in every way for best film of all time.
I've never seen Citizen Kane, but I am sure it sucks.
Nihilists... Fark Me!
