While the curtain was closed while laying on the table he asked for the priest to administer last rites. He asked for the sacrament of the anointing of the sick.So basicly he was saying to God he new what he did was wrong and was asking for forgivness and Gods love before the curtains opened. Then after, he put his game face on and led everybody to believe he had no remorce. This was no punishment for him, this is what he planed all a long. I still think Life in prison would have been more of a punishment for him.

I don't think he got anything at the end. He still has to pay the price for his actions. Forgiveness isn't that easy.
As O'Reily just stated "I'm just glad I'm not where McVeigh is right now"
Timmy's suffering has just started....karma doesn't keep time.

This has been all over the media today. Why is it we have a desperate need to know that he was remorseful???

So did Hitler. Just as soon as the bullet left the muzzle of his pistol, and before it turned his brains to mush, Hitler recited the Lord's prayer, and asked forgiveness. When you see Hitler standing at the pearly gates, say hello for me Tim.

Well It appears that he got religion, ... methinks it would be a fine joke if "god" is Muslim ;) We can speculate, BUT Timmy knows! :D

most people get religion when faced with the unknown. people have a tough time dealing with mortality - even killers.

I personally only care that he is dead. Any remorse in the 11th hour is suspect in my book. It's more like a desperate attempt to hedge the best on the after life by trying to cash in on God's graces at the last moment. One last, final self centered act/thought. It has nothing to do with his victims or thier families, imo.

It's a key tenet of Christianity.
Ask for forgiveness and you will be forgiven.
Or are we conveniently bypassing that now? But I guess that's not so unsual - all religions are essentially 'pick and mix' to a certain extent.

well not exactly. There is only one way to gain forgiveness in God's eyes. AN dit will show in their actions. Even so, only God and Jesus Christ knows the hearts of Men and woman. The Bible is very clear that one must be "born again", salvation and subsequent forgiveness only comes through the Grace Of God. No action or deeds done can save a man from hell. He must accept the Gift of Christ's sacrifice and acknowledge that Christ died on the cross, was buried, and arose in 3 days. His allegiance must be too Christ. If he didnt do these things then he is certainly in Hell.

Whats realy good is that he remained loyal to those who helped him kill all those little kids and innocent people. They must be happy to carry on old Timmy's deed's there's no way he worked alone on this.
Just think they are out there right now thinking and planning out their next target, probably looking for a disgruntle ex-Marine this time to be thier pawn man. Hopefully they wont kill to many people, and soon it will be time for them to pay the pipper for thier murderous deeds.
Ok so I miss the X-files!

True remorse and asking for forgiveness is between God and mcveigh. Speculation about it makes as much sense as debate about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

My thoughts:
The explosion shocked people in the U.S. since they lived with the fantasy that "it can't happen here"
Just like any event that causes people to be shocked like this (Kennedy, Pearl Harbour, son getting shot, etc.) people have a futile need to feel everything is back to "normal"
Some people hoped he would:
-cry like a baby
-pray to his god
-beg for forgiveness
-fill-in-the-blank
because if he did so, they would feel.. "OK all is right with the world. we said he was bad and he realized he was bad"
or maybe the revenge/retribution thought of
"cry you scum..suffer and beg for your life !"
What people don't like to think is that:
-there are people who don't think like they do
-there are people who will do these things without any remorse since they are doing what they think is right.
McVeigh said he prefered to die instead of spend life in prison.
Had they done this...He would have suffered more mentally and he would have faded from the limelight eventually.
Instead he was executed with all the surrounding worldwide media and public frenzy.
The stupidity/irony of this whole thing is:
-he got the route that was prefered by him. (Death is not the ultimate way to suffer)
-His death will not bring any victims back to life and therefore will not help heal the wounds.
(A women who's husband died in the blast said "My closure comes when I join my husband")
-the only benefit for families of victims, as stated by some, is that he won't be able to talk about and spread his "info" about the bombing ever again.
Yet because he was executed in a huge, political, media and public frenzy he will have a bigger legacy and voice then if he had just rotted in a cell into relative obscurity.

Agree one long life in prison is harder to live than not living at all.
think about it people how it can be sitting in a small cell without any contack outside for 30 to 50 years lol thats what i call punihsment :D
death is easy compared to that
