Why does Andrew Jackson's visage adorn our money . Under his presidency wasn't genocide committed against the American Indian ? Isn't he the president who said "the only good Indian is a dead Indian" ? Wasn't a lot of the legislation that Lincoln fought for reversed during his term ? Didn't his administration pave the way for the Jim Crow laws ? Our paper money with its monotone and formal decor is recognized throughout the world . Do we really want to convey to the rest of the world that this man is an American hero ?

He was (for a short time) an elected offical, nothing more. Clinton is our leader but by no means is ha an american hero.
-
You're comparing Clinton to Jackson?

Suave1, I take it that you are a self-hating American. I'm all for standing up for principles and morality, but I don't think we need to constantly beat ourselves up. If you don't like Andrew Jackson, feel free to send me all the pictures you have of him. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I was just maing a point, just because a person is president does not mean ANYONE consideres him a hero,
CLINTON<----case in point.'
ans whats sad is that I like him bertter than
than these 2 crackheads we have to choose from now (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Wobble - despite the majority of opinions to the contrary on this BB, Clinton would have been re-elected if he had been allowed to stand. I think he was a good president, depsite his moral failings - but then that isn't anything new to American politics, is it? Politicians are human too.
-
Suave, you're thinking of Andrew Johnson, not Andrew Jackson.....two different presidents. Andrew Jackson was also known as "Old Hickory", and was a hero of the War of 1812. Andrew Johnson became president after Lincoln was assassinated.

No, but you have the 2 confused. Andrew Jackson couldn't have instituted the Jim Crow laws, and he couldn't have reversed Lincoln's legislation. Jackson was in office some 30 years BEFORE Lincoln, and died before Lincoln ever took office. The fellow on our money is Andrew Jackson, a Major General from the War of 1812, and one of the heroes of the Battle Of New Orleans. (which actually took place after the war was over lol) He later became the 7th President of the United States.
OTOH, Andrew Johnson was the 17th President, and is not on any money. In fact, he is most famous for being impeached.

Genocide? Better them then me. Time for chasing buffalo was over, it was time to build this land into something.
What's the matter Suave? Your liberal/jew teachers in school and MTV got to you? Now you're the 'compassionate' 'sensitive' white goy? Now if you're not white, don't bother responding.
Hey- allow me to present an insight into Suave's mind:
"Aww look at me, I'm in tune with your oppression, your pain. I'm guilty of what someone, hundreds of years ago did to someone else, who I didn't know, and it has nothing to do with me but I'll post on msg boards what a guilty piece of manure I am."
