Arthur C. Clarke, "Watch this space", from a series of stories about an international (American/British/Soviet) Moon expedition.

Yea that's all I want while on vacation at the beach.  See "obrits.com" or a new Viagra add.

Funny that both stories mentioned above involve soda advertisement.

Be funny if they put a big "vaginal" cream add up there in space.

I don't even care if he's an old wheelchair pedophile, I simply like some of his books very much.

One of the first sci-fi books that I have read, "Moon dust", had the story I mentioned together with others.

Boroda is ok.. for a vodka slurpin commie martyr empire lovin red kinko weirdo anti-capatalist pinhead retrograde sputnick humping babushka wearing cross-dressing phreak.

If I ever get to Moscow before Putin drops the iron curtain again I'm sure we'd have a blast gettin dookie-faced on potato vodka at some dismal lil basement ****-hole emporium and standing nose to nose shouting appropriate propaganda slogans to each other at the top of our lungs till we got hoarse.

Then we'd go out and get laid by some capitalistc moscow truckdrivin potatos and have breakfast at the Moscow Denny's.

:aok

When will it stop? Don't they get us enough on radio tv and internet? Maybe we'd all be better of communist just because if everything is owned by the state, they don't have to advertise.

Thanks, Hang, but please - no potato vodka :D If you insist - I'll find you some cheap poison for $1 per half-litre, but it's too extreme for me ;)

As for adverdising - we really didn't have TV commercials in Soviet times, and only 1-2 pages of advertising in some magazines, usually pretty stupid, like "Fly Aeroflot!", as if you could fly anything else.

I think it's hard for Western people to imagine all TV programms never interrupted by commercials...

I'm no vodka expert, but what's wrong with potato vodka?

ever try Chopin?

Polish vodkas are... different. "Potato vodka" sounds like a cheap village moonshine.

Russian vodkas are made from grain spirit. I mean - good vodkas, not fake cheap poison.

Good vodka prices start from 70 rubles for half-litre, the minimal allowed price is around 30-40 rubles, I don't remember exactly.

Russians drink vodka straight, not mixed. In cocktails you'll probably not see any difference, and chemically-pure tasteless stuff like Absolut may be better then good Russian wheat vodka.

Another different taste is Ukrainian vodka (gorilka), it has a nice (at least for me) moonshine flavour.

Like I said I'm no vodka expert and I'd imagine you know what you are talking about.

I liked Chopin a lot though and Grey Goose too. I have some Absolut right now and it kind of has a medicine type flavor. I mixed it with Perrier for grins.

I wouldn't mind trying some good Russian vodka, but I don't really know what's good and what's not.

Absolut is like 100% chemically "pure for analysis" ethanol plus distilled water. I can't imagine how anyone can drink it mixed with mineral water...

We have many different vodka tastes, for example - on Victory day we drank Glavspirtprom "rye", it is simply sweet - too much sugar. There are some bitter vodkas, with caraway extract and other stuff. I like some brands that have added amber acid - it means no hangover after you have more then halflitre per snout.

For me - vodka flavour must be... let me try to explain... not "medical", not "rotten", something fresh (not artificial) that makes your appetite rise, to chase it immediately with something like sour cabbige or salted onion with a piece of salo (salted lard) and a piece of black bread. Vodka must be consumed with special food. If you have some time - get some good herring, serve it with onion rings and some hot boiled potatoes, it's my favourite "zakuska".

Ok, it was your idea, not mine... I went to a fridge (I am at work), found a litre of "Bogorodskaya soft", and poured a small 50ml glass... Cheers!... Damn, an after-taste screams for something to chase it... I only have some Yessentuki mineral water, grrr... and a cigarette. I can't drink beer after an operation yet, so I have some vodka here instead, and you ruined my intention to stay sober tonight... Sto gramm - ne stop-kran, dyornesh - ne ostanovishsya... (100 grams is not an emergency brake, if you "pull" it you don't srop), so I pour another one... I start to wonder do I have something at home to eat fast without cooking... Third one goes smoother, life is getting better, I hope "Yessentuki" will protect my stomach... It's dangerous, 150ml already into an empty stomach... I feel like I'll bite my dinner table legs at home... Another cigarette... I can't resist buying a can of "screwdriver" on the way home, I can't drink carbonated drinks and it's the only **** sold with beer that has no bubbles... We can't drink in the subway any more, thanks to our beloved legislators, may they rot in hell, but our militia doesn't care - they understand people going home after 23:00..

Good bye! I hope I'll write more tomorrow! %-]

I'm wary of anything with a fancy bottle and a high price but Chopin is one of the few that is worth the price.
