Title: Whats a good RAID card for XP Pro?
Post by: LePaul on May 22, 2005, 02:31:55 PM
Been surfing around Newegg for a bit, seen a few that are under $70 and wonder what others are using and like.  Two brands I've been looking at are Adaptec and Promise.  I have a Dell Poweredge SC400 P4 2.8ghz w/ 2gb of RAM I'm converting into a temporary game machine.  Id like to do RAID 0 with 2 SATA 150 hard drives (2 120gbs)

Thanks in advance!

If their SATA RAID cards are as good as their SCSI ones - Adaptec.

May also work better in Dells, as most Dell RAIDs are rebadged Adaptec chipsets. I.e. Perc etc.

All good, depends on three things -

1) How many channels you want.
2) What RAID levels you want (0,1,5,0+1).
3) Biggie, how much your willing to part with money wise.

$71 gets you a dual channel (2 drives) RAID 0, 1 or JBOD - Adaptec 1210SA

After that it jumps way up ($200+)

Kev, really....give it up.  No need to reply and restate my original post.

I searched that site.  I was asking for suggestions based on what *other people are using*.

I also stated, quite clearly, I want to do a RAID 0

If you do not have anything to contribute, don't reply.

*sigh*

Sorry I misunderstood the second post.
The card I previously posted has had good reviews (Adaptec 1210SA )
