Title: Squadron Historians
Post by: Shifty on May 23, 2005, 07:54:23 AM
This is mainly a question to the CM's. If the squads that participate regularly in the CT kept squad historians.

I know there seems to be a lot of conflict at certain times over model types in some setups. If you had people you could consult without an arguement , just facts and figures,, would that be any help to the CM's?

Heh. This idea appeals to me on sooo many levels. Of course, VF-17 had more than one. :D

If we could keep it civil,  I can't help but think it would be a positive for the CT Arlo.

Speaking for me yes it would help a great deal. I am able to dig up some history references but not enough to make it valid.

Thanks Stream.
You guys still have one of the best websites I've seen full of great stuff.

One thing RO and I are trying to get going is having our squad run realistic Japanese sorties during PTO setups in the CT. We're not talking a cloud of N1k2's, or KI-84s  but using the Zeke models, as well as Vals and Kates , to give the USN/USMC squads a realistic adversary.
USAAF squads that are based of units that flew in the PTO , would probably appreciate this as well. What I'd like to do any USAAF squads that were based in Europe to maybe help us out.

Then just maybe some of the USN/ USMC/ USAAF PTO squads wouldn't mind too much evening out the Axis sides for us during ETO's. Maybe if we can start cooperating as squads we can get the CT on it's feet again.

Just a thought but worth a try.;)

68KO.

My last duty assignment with the USAF was 347th FW at Moody AFB Georgia, back in 1994. I know the 347th flew in the PTO. I'll see if i can dig up some links for you.

Try this link 68KO.  http://www.enter.net/~rocketeer/13thhist4.html#347thfg

Also I forgot, it was P-38s from the 347th FG that assinated Admiral   Isoruko Yamamotto.

The Gunfighters were originally part of the 4th Fighter Group in Air Warrior, it was kinda like RJO in AH but made up of 4 squads. While the squadrons all had different names from the originals, they adopted the squad numbers of the 4th. The Gunfighters were the 334th, and there were 335th and 336th etc. Later we dropped the 334th when the 4th FG broke up. I purposely did not use the 334th in the name of the current squad in the CT because I want an non-aligned squad that is neither axis or allied.
