Title: Neat stuff (Audie Murphy)
Post by: Jackal1 on May 23, 2005, 06:28:09 PM
A newspaper story about a trip my Mother and cousin took last week to visit the crash sight and memorial for Audie Murphy.
I understand that there will be a full story, including the photos on Memorial Day.

Sad he was dishonorably discharged for being too young to serve his country, great man though.  I have a picture around here of his grave site in Arlington.  The tour guide spent a nice long time and if I remember right, we may even have held a moment of silence.  I know I did, and one for all of the men that died.

I certainly hope you think this is a cool troll. Dishonarably discharged? :)

Audie was the most decorated hero of  WWII.
He was also a very close family friend.

No troll its what the tour guide said.  Then it was something about how he couldn't get the Medal of Honour.....I dunno but no troll here.  He sounds like a great American WW2 hero as i'm sure he was.

He was not dishonorably discharged. He was retired from his wounds received in the action that got him the MOH.

Audie Murphy

Whoever the tour guide is, report him. He NEEDS to lose his job. Badly.

Thanks for the clarification guys, I went and read a few biographiesjust to check him out some more and no where does it say he was dishonorably discharged and he DID receive the Medal of Honour.  You're right Virgil, he should lose his job;)  spreading false info.
