Title: Savvis rerouting, udp loss, etc
Post by: hubsonfire on May 28, 2005, 02:16:15 AM
Last few days, my connection has gone to hell. High pings, packet loss, UDP loss, vox loss, connection loss. Tonight was the icing on the cake. I couldn't stay connected for very long without getting booted; when I did stay connected, I warped, I hit shots seconds after passing planes, and what I didn't appear to even shoot near, I killed. I've been running ping plots on a fairly regular basis when I noticed my connection going south, and I noticed much higher pings and packet loss on the Denver Savvis hop over the last 2 days. Tonight, I saw these same things on the San Fran and St Louis hops, with even higher pings, and the Denver hop would disappear and reappear on my ping plots. In the past, with my rather crappy dialup conn, I pinged 180-203, and got very few complaints *(excepting days when the ISP would overload, and I'd get the funny box/sawtooth wave on net stat that let me know I was porked), and was easily playable. Lately, I'm pinging 217-330, losing UDP and/or disconnecting, which is extremely frustrating, and almost impossible to play.

While I know many people are suffering these same issues, I notice it's not simply a midwestern issue, and I noticed very few issues with the East coasters. I talked to a few guys on the west coast; one had no issues, the other had a connection worse than mine. I know 3 people within a few hundred miles of me; all had issues with connections, even though we don't have the same ISP or type of connections. I guess I just wanted to vent, give others a chance to speak up if they had similar issues, and hopefully get a reassuring pat on the back that skuzzy is going to be out of the office for a few days so he can burn Savvis' corporate headquarters to the ground, and that everything will be back to normal soon.

Warmest regards,
hub

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat hub. udp loss, disco, and guys pissed about my constant warps. All started about a week or so ago. How do I do that pingplotting stuff anyway?
