Spit
-
how about with team work, most 190s fite in team right? (just like in F4F wildcat)
-
Well, even being a porked variant of the Spit9, it's still got better turn, climb, and zoom capabilities compared to the A-5. Why bother comparing any spit to any 190 in AH? It's just not like historical comparisons.
-
Can a KI84 out turn a Spit 9? I dueled a KI84 in the A5 today and killed it (clearly he used it wrong, shoulda been turning). I'm gonna go with my baby the A5 because I wouldn't be turning with a Spit 9.
-
1vrs1 ill go with the spit.
But
5vrs5... all is open :)

When the fw190 came onto the scene there were no spit9s. So the 190 ruled the channel front for a brief time. And even when the spit9 did show up it didn't trump the 190, but it did give the RAF something to counter the 190. The thunderbolt came close but the 190 was top dog really untill the mustangs showed up.
In a fight the spit9 will win. In the MA the 190 will get more kills.
The majority of kills accrued by 190s aren't from fights. The 190s target is probably allready engaged by another, or just attempting to evade the 190s aerial straffing runs untill the 190 kills it, or somebody else shows up.

The Ki-84Ia outturns a Spit9 with flap use. Without flaps, the Spit9 outturns the Ki84.

... and at the point the fight has gotten REAL slow. Too slow for the Spit IX and time for the Spit to get outta Dodge.
Once the KI-84 drops flaps, it's a virtual helicopter ... unbelievable stability at slow speeds.

If both know what they are doing it will end 0:0. The Spit can turn for ever and the A5 can evade for ever. If the A5 goes for the kill the error margin is very narrow though.

Heh heh heh.
Let me put five pilots together in Spit 9s. You can pick any non-jet plane for your five. We'll see what happens.

Ok, Yak9Us. 5 kills for yaks, 0 kills for spits.

depends on the pilots.
in every plane vs plane fight.
it all comes down to the pilots.
every plane has it pluses and minuses.
which is better, comparing plane to plane performance?
it doesn't matter really.
the pilot's knowledge of the plane, he is flying and the enemy's plane. and knowing what to do to win, is what counts.
couple of examples;
Shane knows the La7. no matter what plane he goes up against, he has a very good chance of winning.
Levi, he knows the spit5. no matter what plane he goes up against, he has very good chance of winning.
if they went up against each other, it'll probably be a draw.
the more you know, about ACMs and how to use it in the plane you fly, what your plane can and can't do. the better your chances are of winning.

I'd say it all depends on situation; speed, alt and position.
If the A-5 menages to get behind the spit, i's toast. Same way the other way around.
