My #2 son met him in Orlando not long before he was killed. Had a backstage pass and a friend that knew them. They hung out a while, talked music, how-to playing... said Darell offered him a signature "Dimebag" guitar if he'd just send him a letter and address later; said he had a garage full of them.
My son was pretty impressed with how kind and friendly the guy was.
Never really heard anything bad about him, so RIP.

You know what I miss? Those styrofoam boxes you'd get burgers in. You can eat the burger and play with the box. 10 years later you can still find that box in the field where you threw it and still play with it. Man, those were the days.
