VW is becoming more and more a copy of Audi.

I was just about to add - it reminds me of the Audi TT.
-
I would like the stationwagon version.
-
The passat was a copy of the Audi A-4 ever since the A-4 was introduced (I think the newer style passats came out 1 or 2 years later). They just put a different nose clip and tail clip on it and charged $5000 less.
-
looks like a Skoda to me ;)
-
skoda makes excellent cars nowadays
its all VW

they came a long way from this
-
Audi = VW = Skoda = Seat
All use same engines, same axles, same base plates, same small parts.
IIRC old A-4 shared over 60% of its parts with Skoda Octavia; differencies being whole steel body (excluding bottomplate) and interior.
-
Looks like a longer version of the newest VW Jetta sold here in the US. Come on VW lets see something imaginative instead of copying Toyota and Nissan body styles. I like VW and how the TDI motors perform but I really think they lack imagination.
-
Anyone that would buy a VW over a Skoda nowadays is an idiot.

Yup, nice little car. I didn't think much about Skoda until my wife brought the brand up.
-
Nice little car; plenty of Hp and more than enough torque.

lol toyota and nissan wish they have the looks of a german car.
-
hurray, another uninteresting, ugly, clone car. interior looks uncomfortable to.
"the terminally hip will love it"
-
My Buick has an interior that looks something like a living room--warm, spacious, and decked out in leather and wood/earth hues.
That VW's interior looks more like a hospital room, all plastic and sterile shades of grey. VW is good at what they do, but that style just doesn't appeal to me.

The one at the dealer here got leather interior even with mahony wood panel parts beige interior. It looks more luxury but the one i posted is more sportiv looking.
-
Friend's Park Avenue has also nice seats, almost like stolen from living room, but they're really not that comfortable in a long drive or even shorter drive.
Best seat is solid, maybe even hard one... kinda like the aftermarket Recaro I had in my old BMW.
First it felt very uncomfortable, it was hard and bit cramped but after 4h drive you didn't want to get out from it :D
If anyone is having a bad back and needs to drive much that's something he needs to get. Not the cheapest one but worth of the cost and can be moved to next car.
btw Recaro builds also original seats at least for some Mercedes-Benz cars and I wouldn't be surprised if the seats of Passat are also from their productionline.
-
All I ever needed to know about a Passat was that transmission fluid must be administered by a freakin I/V within 10 degrees of 75 F....cousin has one (they also refuse to run sans hi-test gas)

Take a good look at the Toyota Camry and Lexus ES series. They have had the similar body style that VW is now putting on the Passat and Jetta. I like VW as I said especially the TDI engines however they have become rather uninspired in their body styles and styling of interiors.

I'll skip any euro car that doesnt have hybrid engine or that has pooooooooooooooor reliability (except for Shaguar, it's made by Ford!:D)
-
1K3 - LOL! My brother has a Shaguar - X-Type 2.5. He really likes it and has had no trouble with it. It's a nice car to ride in. I know that Ford owns Jag, but when Shaguar was bought out, I think assembly carried on as before - ie. Ford didn't take it over. (?)

The Baby Jag is a Ford Mondeo dressed up!

Well, there's an element of truth in that. Notice how Ford no longer build a prestigious 6-cyl large luxury saloon, like the Granada Ghia-X of days gone by. Which would you rather have - a big flashy Ford, or a cheap Jag? Most people would opt for the cheap Jag, so Ford don't bother competing with their own products - especially as there's still the Jag S-Type and the XJ8 to choose from.
