so in a post taliban era, we want to show our 'real' culture to middle-easterners so what are we gonna do?
why, make sure that they get MTV of course!
how are we going to make friends by showing them the most irritating,superficial, hollow and shallow aspect of our society?

Yeah, lets show 'em the lowest point of our culture and build up from there...
Next we'll air Oprah and Judge Judy 24/7, followed by VH1's Behind the Music for Culture Club.
If we can't brain wash them into believing we're actually good with that stuff, then perhaps we can just use some mind controlling drug--- on second thought the latter might be the easier and cheaper course of action.

yeah this stumps me-
thats right, in america everyone wears lots of gold and then hops out of a limo surrounded by bodyguards with folded arms then they start shaking their fist at people, with their pants sagging, shuffling and mumbling and bragging of their sexual exploits and offering warnings of no 'sucka' betta mess with them or they'll get get shot etc etc
then we all get together in a room and argue over who gets to sleep with whom
its just stupid....totally floors me...

Hollywood is heroic though!! They pulled off the Emmys, the great national treasure that it is, in the face of great peril. Ahh for the days when celebraties like Jimmy Stewart flew bombing missions over Germany and Ted Williams flew Panthers over Korea.
God, MTV. Talk about a cultural disconnect. Some Afghan refugee living in a dirt-floored hovel will, like, really be able to, like, connect, you know, with those charming young Americans on the Real World. The Real World...
Or how about Survivor? Young Pammi stepped on a bouncing betty while walking to the well, guess there no vote needed for her.

I agree its a stupid idea, but they wont show USA MTV with half naked teenage sluts like Brittany Aguilera and Jessica Spears (is there any diffrence?) :rolleyes: , or any of the talentless bunch of one hit wonder rappers. Their plan is to set up local programing MTV in Arabic or whatever the appropriate language. Then they wanna have some sort of cultural exchange or something between US and foreign MTV staff.
The solution to the mideast problem will in part be closer ties between the USA/West and the Muslim countries, but this MTV thing is kinda silly.
