... we dont have ANY spit1 skins!
:(
-
its not butter!
-
I told pooface to gemme some profiles and I would make some SpitI skins but he didnt email em to me.
-
apart from some suttle changes most of the spits looked the same, nothing big with sign writing or nose art and i believe that hiteck wanted different skins not just a skin with a different squadron letters.

To me all the german planes look the same....
Seriously there is a veriaty in all nations paint schemes.

Spit1s were around for such a short time, that by the time new paint schemes came out (or were needed) the spit1s were gone and Spits 2 on up were around.
The only thing you could do with a spit1 is to take the current scheme, negate it. Take the current scheme, flip it, and then take the flipped scheme and negate it (there were only 4 schemes, if I remember, all were nearly identical, just mirrored or negated (swap brown for green) if needed).
So basically there's nothing to skin.
EDIT: Consider that right after the BOB the Spit2 started coming out. Also consider that the plane had only been around since the battle of France, which wasn't that long before the Battle of Britain. It was a short-lived variant.

Even worse Krusty -
For the upper camo there was only 2 schemes. One was a reverse of the other.
Lower camo -
Split black/sky (or white) which can't be done on current model.
Overall sky.
Yup HT is looking for skins that aren't just a sqn code change. Kinda hard on all RAF birds as individuality was frowned upon.
The Norweigans drove Fighter Command to despair with their individual touches.
Only officially sanctioned was the use of Initials for squardon codes for sqn leaders.
E.g. D-B Douglas Bader, RA-B Rolf Arne Berg JE-J Jonny Johnson etc.
Spit 5/9s were easier as they used a variety of diff camo, plus we've been allowed to use Mk 8 skins.

Still waiting for someone to do Ginger Lacey's OTU "Bounce" aircraft AR213. The plane still exists and is being restored in these markings.
Did this profile a while back. It's a late Spit I. While technically not a front line combat aircraft, it was Lacey's bird and he was a B of B Ace and it would have been the one he'd have taken should they have needed to help intercept German birds over England.
No question it's a colorful scheme :)

Prob with this was the wing to fuselage join, made the horizontal stripes look ridiculous. Plus the stretching and misaligment over the upper cowling. Theres a part of the upper central engine cowling that is somewhere aorund 45 degrees to where it should be. You should have seen the trouble I had getting the Dieppe spit stripes to line up.

PUNT
give me a spit1 skin WHAAA
-
There's nothing TO skin! Whatever there WAS for spit1s, we HAVE in our default skin. No more to do. Thus no more skins!
There WERE no options, basically.
-
If we could do black/white(or sky) undersides there would have been.
-
An option for the belly, perhaps. That's a grand total of 2. (left black right white and left white right black wouldn't make anydifference, nobody but nobody would notice which scheme it was on the plane they were attacking). Once the spits get redone, sure... But then? Nothing else to do.
-
Yup Krusty.
Unfortuneately it's a common problem with RAF birds because individuality was frowned upon.
This is especially true of Mk 1 Spits. Very hard to find anything that is different. Dan's one would be nice, but will prob only look OK when the Spit gets remodelled.
I suppose a Spit 1 even with a name, squadron crest, hell anything different would work.
Even using VIII skins on the IX I think we have almost run out of 'different' stuff.

i will pick up the glove and look.
about "all the spit1s look the same"
So? we have like 5 tiffi skins, all look the same to me. (ugly that is :D )
seriesly tho, just make 1 decent one, the default looks like he is made of plastic. you guys can produce such an amazing skins that look so much better then the default ones, so theoreticly they will have the same camo scheme, but one will look way better then the other.

OK I found a few skins for Spit Ia's and IIa's that are different.
Tried a quick test of a Spit Ia, 19 Sqn, Fowlmere 1940.

This is a very early test to look for problem areas.

OK started changing things, shouldn't be any probs.
Port wing panels now to 8x303 layout.
Tidied up fuselage roundel, this one had oversize roundel.
Changing weathering layers.
