Because there is no statute of limitations on a murder.

because we need to be periodically reminded how stupid we can be.  remember this was a fourteen year old boy murdered by adults for saying "thanks baby" to a woman.

from my understanding of it he never said a word but rather whistled. also they didn't just lynch him, they tortured him for hours and mutilated his body. goodthing you missed the early boat, eh storch.

google it.  the mutilation aspect of the grotesque photos come from being submerged in the tallahattchee river for a long time.  I believe he was shot and a mill fan tied around his neck then dumped in the river.

when we first came to my beloved Florida in 1959/60 some of those guys resided here as well. it took them about five years to figure out that these new colored kicked arse and they shuffled right along in a northernly direction.  you only had to put the wood to 'm once and they got the message pretty quickly.  we have transformed it now and look at the wonder miami is.  truly "the majic city" i remember the not so subtle signs of jim crow at the woolworth's lunch counter downtown and the segregated drinking fountains and such.  we were amazed by that stuff coming from a totally desegregated society.  my grandfather used to say the the best thing the spaniards ever made was the mulatta.  i tend to agree.
