Flyboy has proposed a contest for the month of June and I am offering up a prize for the winner:
A like new Belkin Nostromo N52

Rules:
1 - Must have over 100 kills in P40B for the month of June 2005
2 - Winner will be the one with the highest K/D or in a tie the highest K/S.
3 - If you want to be considered you must submit your request to me by July 4th so we can check your score.

yah i think so, death early like that kills it. someone will get a huge k/d in it by picking fights. i am not smart enough and end up getting ganged ;) :D

Y'know, you could make this "official" like Frenchy did many tours ago. HT and Skuzz helped verify the results... and with a neato prize at stake, it might eliminate those who wish to bend the rules.

How about a Piper Tomahawk skin?
A little trivia: When I wanted to get my pilot's license I took a demo flight in a Tomahawk. It was my first 'small plane' and it scared the bejeezus out of me...
I decided to go with the 'other' flight school and learn in 152s.
About a year later a chick took off in that same Tomahawk, forgot to turn on the fuel valved and crashed it off the end of the runway. She died and it still creeps me out.
That and the Tomahawk flat spin into a cornfield video...

Four kills 2 deaths last night. I actually won a HO kill on a Lanc, but lost against the 163 (it happened so fast I didn’t even shoot). My other death was a collision with a spit that I was trying to shoot up. The P-40b is hard to B & Z in because it takes awhile to pour enough lead into your target..
P.S.
Will Ship/field gunner deaths be factored out, or just straight K/D as reported in stats?

one of the reasons i didnt put a real prize (other then i have no money to spend :o ) is that we will keep this challenge for fun and so..
i dont want players trying to win just to win a shiny prize, the only motivation is the sense of achivment and fun.
i did Email skuzzy about a symbolic 1st prize, like putting the winner name in the MOTD for the first week in the new tod.
but no response from skuzzy yet.
all in all, its allways a great suprise to find those gems in the comunity who are willing to contribute from their own expens, that is the one thing who make this game the best.
not the flight model, graphics or cool new effects. its the great people who are part of the comunity.

My first try in the P-40 want as follows;
First flight,
10K, bad guy below at my 9. I dive in and he pulls away:(
I see him laughing on the message bar:mad: . I clime back up and drop on another! Line and shoot :eek: Hey everyone, look at the nut in the P40, lets get him! Crap! My warp drive is out, the cloaking device has failed and Lt Uhrua is singing,"It sucks to be you".
Well some how I get out of the furball from he)) and land with an assist.
Mission 2
ZOOOOOMMMMMM, I'm off again, another furball. I zoom in, POW I got one! POW I'm dead.......
And so, tomorrow I'll be up there again in the wild blue younder fighting the good fight. I saw a furball of seagulls off A21, they look easy!

If there is a tie, I would recommend as a tiebreaker:
1. Highest number of P-40B kills breaks tie.
2. Best P-40B K/D after ship gunner kills are removed breaks tie.
3. Best plane killed (highest eny) in P-40B breaks tie.
Right now, here are a couple of leaders:
Jamusta = 29-K, 28-D
VWE = 14-K, 7-D
Eager and I are: 7/7 & 7/5
Arena K/D = 159/288

I started it, but I have like 100 asists now. Not sure how many kills but the dam plane sucks so much its like winning the powerball when you get a kill in it.
Its alot of fun to turn fight in, BnZ so so, at best. Damn near anything will run you down.
Little less than half way into the tour..
I'm In tho. :)

The funny thing is they do ok 1v1 with a spit. The only reason they do ok is because the spit never expects the P40 to start a committed turn fight. If you can kill them fast enough, before you get so slow you're just about keeping in the air, you have a chance.

I'm at 21 kills and 9 deaths... last night I shot down a flight of 3 B-26's. :D
Others planes I've shot down, Spit5's and Seafires, La-7's and Il-2's and 1 B-24.

Their almost the same color and kinda cumbersome so I think it would work ;)

eskmio What i read it was open to everyone not just 4 you listed. And the reason for post is i saw $#@%^^@ land 26kills 1 sortie in a p40 killing his squadmate %%^#^....... When ni went to kill p40 squadmate so please leave p40 alone he's mine i owe him. I do a Ai turnon plane type see guy who told me not to go after p40 was in bombers next thing you know his squadmate lands 26kills against his 26 bombers in a p40. So that is why i said i would have hitech chk stats if i ran a tourney. Flyboy And i go way back to squadmates in Warbirds.... so i'm sure hes cool but too many not ............................. .................

I'm only listing the folks who have responded to this thread and have over 20 kills. I have no way of knowing who else might be trying for the P-40b thing. I know Jamusta, VWE001 and
Morpheus; it would never cross my mind that they would cheat. Apparently someone else has though.

it take forever to get to a fight, when i get to it, all the green has turned to red... i find myself surrounded by a sea of angry little La7s, NIks and spits... The P40B may as well be perked because they flock to you like no other.
its deffinatly a challenge just to survive... forget getting kills. Its slow as crap, it can turn well but but many others can out turn you if they have a clue at all. and exiting a fight is almost imposible unless you have someone to clear you.

The P-40b does have a remarkable good kill record this tour against bombers. Its weak guns make it hard to buy. K/D’s against of P-40B this Tour:
B-17 = 11/0
B-24 = 7/6
B-26 = 8/2
Boston = 5/0 (believable as the Boston is the only armed plane that’s worse than the P-40b)
Ju-88 = 8/2
Lanc = 12/2
That’s a K/D of 51/12 against these 6 bomber types. (I can vouch for 3 kills of them, however, as I have killed a B-17, a B-26 & a Lanc with no deaths to types)
The P-40B’s overall K/D is 360/689. Something is definitely beyond fishy. The P-40E’s K/d against bombers sucks, and it has 6x50 cals.

LOL, I can’t count how many times I’ve headed to the fight only to have the base captured before I even get there in my POS P-40b. I’ve seen the friendlies go extinct as well. I usually try to get one first before the hord pig piles; but I’m usually dead before I can convince one of them to slow down to 200 mph and be still enough for my to pepper him to death. For yucks, the P-40b is the only plane that I’m flying in fighter mode this MA Tour; I’ve got fighter stats that would embarrass many newbies.

bombers suck to in on. P40B is deffinatly no vulch machine either.
I in'd on a set of lancs (i think lancs). I forget whos' they were but I needed 5k advantage on them just to get enough speed so i wouldnt be trapped behind them and in their guns.
the way the P40B works well for me is to sucker someone into a turn fight with you and kill them as fast as you can. Which isnt easy because the 2x50s are the only thing it has going for it... and those are less than par compared to other planes in the MA.
Its a fun contest. I highly doubt I will be able to log the time to get to the 100 kills. But its worth a shot. Not for the prize even. Just to get 100 kills in that thing is an accomplishment in its own right.
I ALSO highly doubt anyone in the contest would be doing what Rod said.

As worthy as it may be to take note of. I really wouldnt worry about it. If its happening, its would be obvious.
I really see no reason to bring it up to the extent that Rod did. But hes also a score whoring tard. And is used by me only for sex.

I've actually become quite addept to knocking down buffs in the P-40b... I've got 3 B-24 kills each time just a single of the 3. I think 5 B-26 kills, I did kill an entire flight of 3 on 1 sortie. I think 2 or maybe 3 Lanc kills but no 17's... can't seem to find may of those. Also I've shot down at least 10 Il-2's as well as a few La-7's and about 4 or 5 Spit5's. 2 P-47 D40's and 2 Typhoons that were flying a nice formation at 18k. My general modus operendi is to get up to 15k and find a loner that has wonderd away from the heard. For what the -40 lacks in straight line speed it makes up for in dive speed and turning ability. I know that no matter what plane I find aside for a 262 I can beat if I have the altitude advantage. I have shot down 1 P-51 and 1 Tempest got pings on 1 262 and I'm sure he had to check his pants for mud bunnies after that sortie. :aok

Rod is stating that someone vulched a sqaudmate 26 times (all bombers) in one P-40B sortie. He's reported it to HTC. I'm not sure if HTC intends to do anything about it. Self / 2nd account / squadmate vulching always been a potential problem with scoring. I’m not even sure if HTC has ever made an official statement about it.
One thing about this little contest is that it’s not sponsored or endorsed by HTC; I would think that if there was ever a time to have players handle cheating on their own, this would be it. HavocTM certainly has the right to not award his generous prize to someone who he feels did not win honestly. He must, however, know about it before the contest is finalized.

P40B vs. B26 is 8/3 in P40s favor. Dont think hes just killin B26s.

I dont believe I downed 1 bomber, believe me I tried. But i need to learn to vulch my second account better... Geez 64/55 thats terrible.

U gotta get real close and hold down the trigger for a good long burst. I've got convergence set at 300, took the wing off of a seafire last night then smoked a Ki-67 who tried to ditch but still gave me credit. Of course aim for a wing and always go for the drones first, best way for kills now are to light em on fire then leave em and wait. :aok

Jamusta is 96/84
VWE001 is 67/23
Flyboy is 35/12
Morpheus is 28/7 (Same)
eskimo is 23/10
It looks like only 2 are on a pace to finish in time. Jamusta is pretty much there, but if VWE001 also finishes, he will likely have a better K/D and win…

Real life has taken control of me. I think I've logged maybe 2-3 hours in the past 9-10 night. It's not gonna change anytime soon.
There's no chance in me getting to 100 by the end of this tour.
