Title: DA needs MOTD
Post by: 2bighorn on June 02, 2005, 08:58:38 PM
Can we get back MOTD with simple rules for DA as we used to have?

The place has become mess with constant vulching, cherry picking, shooting people who have duels, bad language, etc.

I posted the same thing awhile back and I couldn't agree more.

Alot of people dont even bother to ask what the ROE is and just start shooting everything in sight.

A ROE on the clipboard when you enter the DA would be nice.
Typical to what you get when you log into the TA.

Alot of new people are joining in and have no idea what the ROE is nor do they bother to ask. They just come in and start shooting at planes taking off, crawling on someones 6 and squeezing the trigger as they call "check 6".

Anyway point being if there was a message on the clipboard as you log into the DA maybe people would read it and avoid getting flamed by regulars, and make thier DA experience more enjoyable.

I agree Bighorn, I'll go a step further.

Skuzzy make bighorn pick 4 other people of dependable nature who frequent the DA a lot.  Make them moderators with full CM tools.  Heck I bet they'd do it for free.

Let them police the area, set the rules, write the MOTD, etc.

I second that Ghost, would be great to have a few guys who have the same power as the trainers. Like Bighorn said, it has gotten REALLY bad in there. Even if you try to change feilds to get away from it, the other people will just follow you and continue the trouble. HiTech, please consider this.

PS: I think Bighorn would be a great choice as well.:aok

Yup ... agree ... last few times in there, I thought I had joined some dweeby H2H FFA room.

First spawn ... was vulched before the engine could startup ... remembered the name.

Got up and got into a great fight with Jish. Rolling scissors till we just about dropped out of the sky and/or ran out of sky. On the last roll ... BOOM ... picked ... noticed the name ... same guy.

Well ... needless to say, he did not get wheels up for a good 5-10 minutes.

He started yelling at me, and I told him that he vulched me once and I let it go. Then he picked while I was engaged and that didn't sit right with me and he was going to taste what it feels like and don't ever shoot me again.

I know its not the right thing to do, but without some sort of moderator in the DA, he did get the message and stayed far away from me.

Sounds like its getting worse.

I agree with the idea of having some mods for the DA. Another idea, though probably not popular, would be to keep the nonpaying customers out of the DA.

Wasn't aware any non-paying customers could go into the DA.

Do you mean the free-trial'ers. No, don't restrict them from there. If they get a good verbal spanking for their dweebishness it's good for them.

Like the MOTD & MOD'r idea also.

Watched the film Jet posted.

Pretty sad.

Pretty horrible that  a nine year old playing with his dad should be subject to this kind of behaviour as well.

I agree we need to be able to police the DA in order to curb this kind of behavior.

If there is any possibilty of Hitech allowing the players to become moderators, and give them the tools they need to do the job, I will throw my hat in the ring for a position as a moderator for the DA.

One of the reasons I seldom frequent it anymore is this type of attitude. It would be nice to be able to spank a few of the more blatant participants, and provide a better environment for those wish to use the DA as it was intended.

Sniper

Mon morning call 817-251-1540

HT ussually shows up between 9 & 10 Central time.

Ask for Hitech (dale)
Be polite, explain what you see as current problems in the DA.  Give logical well thought out possible solutions. Then accept that he's going to do it his way. And at least you had the chance to talk about it with him.

Maybe, just Maybe you'll get your wish.
If several people call he will listen, and changes might happen.

He does listen and he does care.

And I apoligise in advance Dale for the flood of phone calls. I really am sorry, but something needs to change.

Tell me about it!  They have this thing going on in the DA and even in training arena,   This crapola of giving you a check six and then they start engaging and shooting!   Like a check six is the code for "im gunna engage you",  wtf?   I go to the TA to set up AH if something needs changing, my like views etc.... hit the runway and 80% of the time , boom, ck6, and they shooting at ya.

Dont think 90% of the people entering the  TA read chit!  In the DA except for the vets, newbies probley wont read there either.

If I remember correctly in AW, in the main arena they could engage you and NOT get in trouble if they typed this code in to let the system know they had permission to engage you (it was for training purposes i think). (something like -duel tactic- is what they and you typed in with each others name)  You'd lose your ammo for 2 or 3 hours if you didnt type release code in (may have been after 2 or 3 kills on friendly w/o typing in code thingy).  I know someone will know what i'm talking about.

But for those that cant read or dont give a watermelon like in the TA,  because it happens there all the time  with the motd posted :( the sob's!!!!!!!

So maybe having to type something in to clear it would save HT from having to get baby sitters for those areas.   If they do need baby sitters, well I wna be one ! why?,  because every time i go into the TA or DA  it seems like it happens 98%  .    Give me that boot key I'll use it with love , caring, objective ! Iron fisted ruling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    No really, I'll be cool with it.  promise.. gimme gimme gimme....... :p

I agree that DA needs a bit more structure, as from time to time immature people frequent it, and turn it into a free-for-all.

Players can engage in free-for-all behavior in the MA.  It enhances the overall game experience if HTC is able to maintain the DA as a place where players can duel under controlled circumstances.

Sniper68, you have to have rules of some kind, or it's not a duel.  Think it through.  You're in there fighting someone, and another person shows up.  They need to know what they're allowed to do.  If they can do anything they want, the existing duel is destroyed by a 2-1, 3-1, or whatever.  Doesn't take much skill or prove anything to kill someone 2-1.  In the DA, probably just shows the perpetrator is an idiot.

I'm not saying the "check 6" thing is ideal, but at least it's a way to arrange 1-1 duels in realtime.  I sent an email to HTC to try to find out what their position is on this, based on an experience I had tonight.  I suppose they could say they don't give a damn, but that kind of kills their dueling arena concept, so they probably won't.

Well, to tell the truth, your post is kind of incoherent.  If I don't understand what you are talking about, that's probably why.  Maybe tomorrow you'll have time to describe it better.
