Title: Merge Speed?
Post by: JB82 on June 04, 2005, 06:05:58 AM
While merging with an opponent with the plan of going vertical, should you "WEP it" before you go under him or chop throttle and get as close to your planes "Cornering Speed" as possible?

Also, while going vertical should you zoom as high as you can or keep turning the whole time and how hard should you pull back on the yoke?

If my plan is to go vertical, then I am trying to pull lead before the merge and have that sucker firewalled so I have plenty of E.

When I commit to going vertical, its usually when I know they don't have the same amount of E. I continue the zoom, and at the same time watch from the 6 view to see when they start to fall back, and then begin my rollover into them. At this point, I am counting on them stalling and flopping over and they are now at my mercy.

For me that depends very much on the E-retention and best corner speed of the plane.
