I'm curently on the campain mission where you have to get to the castle. Man its hard... and I'm on cadet mode :D Once I get my modem fixed I hope I can play with some of you guys. Which reminds me, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY MODEM!!!! :)
Happy Turkey Day all!

Swoop I'd love to join you in some long missions, provided I can get the modem on MY compooter fixed and provided my ISP holds out. I'd love to be a HIND pilot (if we played ruskies) or a CH47 or UH60 pilot. I also like driving trucks and tanks.....and sometimes infantry is the only way to go. Man this game rocks!
PS I'm sending an email after I post this.

Just got it too.
The mission where you stop the convoy with sachel charges and snipe the troops is the funnest 1 hour in gaming I've had except for Ghost Recon COOP most times and of course many AH online fights.
Bought another computer and hooking up upgraded DSL just to run servers.

Beef, check yr email.

Swoop,
Put some jeeps etc near the spawn point so ded guys can catch up to the rest of the group.
Noticed this while on gamespy the other night. Tough rejoining game if you killed off.

Beefcake, go the editor center for the addons http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com/ (http://www.ofpeditingcenter.com/)
Get the latest troops, vehicles, weapons. scripts.
And this site for missions.. http://www.flashpointarena.com/ (http://www.flashpointarena.com/)
A slightly better rating system for single player missions.

That sachel charge mission is a blast. I kept trying to snipe the turrent crew of the tank while my support axed the rest of the vehilces with LAWS. Then I would try to demo charge the T80. Took me quite a while to realize I could daisy chain the t80. Then a bit longer to realize I could get all three of the demos to take out the whole gang at once.
great mission. My joystick is not working right though and Im having trouble with the cobra mission.
-
hah,
that sniper mission is a blast
i didnt even call in bravo team the 1st time until after i killed the convoy and then sniped all those guys who came as backup. bravo came in and waxed the bmp and we advanced on the town
called charlie in to come from the other side and both teams pinched while i played hero with the rifle.
soooooooo much fun
edit: told ya you'd like it pongo :)

I almost got this the other day, but stopped. I have a few questions. How many people can play it online smoothly? Are the frame rates better than they were in the demo? Smooth online game play?
I had fun with the demo, but if I'm paying I want to play with real people not AI. I looked forward to the game, but have heard bad things about the multiplayer side. Did they patch it and make it better?
thnx :)

Need pretty good pings (even with 1.30/dedicated servers) to play a good multiplayer game.

Not sure 'bout multiplayer Undies, I actually play OFP for single player because it's so damn good in that aspect.
I spend all the multiplayer with Ghost Recon cuz I don't like single player as well with that and it's is so fekin good and smooth.
In regards to that convoy mission, I never could get all the vehicles at once. Interesting to hear how others did. I set the tree sachels spaced out using the telephone poles as refrence, and hauled bellybutton up the hill. I detonate them and then call in Bravo, but it always left that tank. So I'd kill the entire camp, go pick up a rocket launcher (GR needs that pick-up feature badly) and go back to kill the tank. Fun.
:)
-
The game isnt about the campaign. The single player campaign should be renamed "basic training".
The game is the mission editor.

I was able to get all 4 with the demo charges. But I always ran back and hid along along the water. I once had the second bmp try to climb the hill to flank the ambush and then turn arround and wade out into the water. I killed the rpg gunner and sniped the floating BMP with that..
How do you drop a rocket launcher when you dont want it any more?

Pongo you can't drop it directly. However you can pick up a PK or M60 (which drops your rifle and the launcher) and then pick up your rifle again
-
the trick to killing the convoy is you have to space the last 2 charges fairly close together(about one tank length). look through you scope and locate the middle charge, and set it off just as the tanks nose gets to that charge then set them off.
it takes 2 charges to kill the tank
-
how good of fps do you guys get in that satchel misiosn. my fps gets real bad when the action gets heavy even tho i have good comp.

this is how i did it:
let my squad get killed,so then i was in command myself, just sticked in the thick bit of wood, running like hell, and got to the castle
ps. speaking of charges, one of the funest user made missions i've played was 'jeep toss',just put the charges under the jeep, and enjoy...
pps.i've now gotton on to bigger fish, bmps,t72s,etc.
ppps. cos i'm from England, i got flash point before you yanks :p

You got it before some of us Yanks. It's good to know people :)

mine slows down alittle in the convoy mission. after the vehicles are dead and i'm snipeing the town.
ps. i was having trouble with stalling and lockups on most missions but that cleared up after installing dx8.1 and updating ati drivers.
also i switched to xp and set ofp to high priority the color was much richer and the action smoother

Ok, Swoop's tip of the decade:
The standard view distance in the game is 600m. This means that even in the A10 doing 400mph you can only see 600m ahead. Arse.
In *ALL* your self made missions add a trigger (something that'll trigger straight away - or on a radio call) with this in the "on activation" field:
setviewdistance xxxx
(where xxxx = view distance in metres).
I've had it up to 4000m in smaller missions with no visible effect on FPS. However, in larger missions things can slow down when the bullets start to fly......but it's worth it to get 2000m sniper shots. :D

Say.....anyone got any web space to host a couple flashpoint missions I've done? I dont wanna submit them to a site yet cos they're still in beta (one of em has gone thru 97 different updates so far) but I would like opinions.
Got this one called Ridge. You're a Russian in the desert, ya gotta hold a ridge from 200 US soldiers until reinforcements arrive.......I tell ya, it's a rush to suddenly see 200 men come charging at ya......and then a couple tanks too.

hehe I'm now on the Escort Convoy mission, where you must escort the convoy to the Airport on Malden. GOOD COD this one is hard for me. I've spent 2 days on it and I still can't get it. I've tried everything and no matter what I do, the convoy always gets squicked. Any tips? :)
PS, on that convoy mission "Bombermen" I can take out the whole convoy with the 3 charges. I set 1 next to the pole and then space the other 2 out down the road. I wait until the T80 is on the 1st charge I laid, and then I hit the switch. When this happens the Lead BMP is on the last charge I laid, and the fuel truck and Shika are inbetween the 2nd charge.
-
heh
i spaced em that way too - one about a tank and a half length before the pole, one at the pole, and one about the same dist after
kills all 4, but then a few soliders always seem to crawl out of the wreckage. have to put them out of their misery lol (i climb up to the ridge after laying the charges)
-
Has anyone played that huge combined arms mission in the Upgrade 3? It kicks ass.
-
Say.....anyone got any web space to host a couple flashpoint missions I've done?
I have some web space, send me the missions and I will host them.
-
for that bomberman mission I take 1 mine 2 satchel charges and space them out with the mine being the last one set. then i werk my way round to where there rear will be. I space them out and when the mine goes off i set the 2 satchel charges off.
I get all the vehicles that way. They are spaced so that the satchel charges are spaced between the vehicles not directly under one of them.
i then call in bravo to kill the crews while i snipe off the reinforcements as the bmp drops umm off. bravo kills that bmp then i go round and take up position near the town call in charlie and watch them clearing out any opposition they face as they enter the town. by this time bravo is moving in from the road and i just pick off every guy i see.
Great fun I replay that one over and over.
-
i had a lucky mission in the sabature mision.
destroyed the ammo dump and 2 bmps in that area with mines.
then took 4 satchel's to the depot.
placed charges under mi-17, bmp in the corner, and between 1&2, & 3&4 of the tanks in the line.
then went to the t-80 in the corner. the alarm went off and the nme scrambled, as i jumped into the gunner position on the tank i set off the charges. one of the nme jumped in the driver seat and was driving around. nme wouldn't shoot at the tank with him driving. i leveled the base killed all soldiers, vehicles, and 1 more helo then jumped from the tank when it was near the woods and ran.
in the end the only thing left was the t-80 i was in and 1 helo.
very lucky

I did that other sabature mission where you have to blow up the hinds. I kept screwing up (as usual) until a brain fart hit me! I order my men to head towards one of the evac zones. I then ran out, shot as many troops as I could and climbed into one of the hinds. I took off and headed for the evac zone my men where at and picked up one to use as a gunner. The rest was like hunting fish in a barrel. YA know T80s arent so tough from the air :) After I took out all the support around the base I then landed and ordered my men to lay Charges on tents/trucks/choppers/ect, after which we retreated back into the forest as we listened to 12 Charges going BOOM. :) Man this game rocks, as soon as I am done with campain I'm going to reply on VET. :)

beef,
the escort mission:
Take your machine gunners and a LAW soldier in the jeep out along the road. The 1st ambush is easy to deal with. Then load up the trucks and radio em to go.....guide em through, taking the southern route (northern route has a couple of BMPs to deal with, southern route seems to have only light arms). The trucks will make it to the airport now without a problem......and if you load all your men up into 1 truck and drive real fast you can just drive straight through the rest of the ambushes with no losses (them Ruskies are terrible shots).

Swoop I did it the hard but fun way. I took a LAW, Machine Gunner and Medic with me in the HUMMER. I went up to where the 1st Soilders appear. I ordered my men to disembark and cover the Jeep and the road while my officer (me) who has a M21 moved slowly up the road and sniped all the ambushers. I made it all the way to Dudron(I forget how to spell) when the T72 came charging down the hill. My LAW solider got the T72 but a Ruskie got my LAW before I could cover. And that Damn T72 got my Jeep. Thankfully there was a truck there. I got all Convoy trucks to the Airport, HOWEVER just before they reached the end point, the handsomehunk I ordered to drive the M113 came out of the woods and rammed the Ammo truck, knocking it out. I ordered the convoy to stop while I took the driver out into the woods and.....well had a "hunting accident" with him :)

True true....the single player game itself isnt really all THAT good, though its not too bad either, but what really sets OpFlash out on its own is the mission editor.
Remember setting out those little green and brown plastic men as a kid , with little tanks and stuff all around, then flattening them with marbles? < c'mon man, I CANT be the only one.....> Well, OpFlash editor is like the grandest collection of little green and brown men, complete with tanks and choppers and stuff, that you ever did see :)
And you get to see the battles in great detail...tracer, missile trails, explosions, debris....the whole bit :)
A bit of scripting here and there and a basic knowledge of the mission editor, and you can pretty much create/recreate any sort of fight you like....from squad on squad small infantry firefights, to full blown battles with hundreds of units.
EXTREMELY cool toy :)

Beef looks like you are pretty close on the escort mission. The key is to kill those ambushing RPG troops after that first town. Then when you get to the town where the tank comes in, leave your vehicles hidden, get your men into the town and down in some cover, have them hold fire until the tank and enemy infantry get close, and then let them have it. Once the tank gets amidst the buildings it's pretty easy to get an unobserved LAW shot on him.
-
Thanks for the tips guys. I'm now on the Mission where you must blow up the scud. All I can say is this mission has driven me NUTS! Right now I usually go it alone with James. I take an M21 Sniper Rifle and a LAW with 3 LAW rounds. I then set up in a tree on either the W or the E hill where I have a shot at the Scud. I fire and when I kill the scud 99% of the time some guy on the other side of the hill that is over 700m away snipes me with his AK47. Man this mission has gotten to me. Any help or tips from you pros?
-
Beef remember that they can't see you if you are in a bush. So sneak up, get next to a bush, shoot the Scud, then dive into the bush. They will come and look around for you. If you stay quiet they will get bored and leave. If they don't leave then call in the choppers and armor and they will definitely get distracted. Then you can make a break for it.
I approach the Scud from the South. There are some ridges there that you can use to cover you from the tanks. Just be careful on the way in as there are some outposts and a couple of patrols. Use the MP5-SD if you have to, but your best bet is to crawl a lot and not let them see you. Also use South for your escape after destroying the Scud.
-
i need missions :)
-
here's how i beat the scud mission. send most of your squad in to the woods and have them wait as a diversion. take the jeep and bring the sniper and the guy with the gustav launcher with you and drive around back to the hill. as you go up the hill there will be a squad of spetz natz, if you are in position to kill them all do it. if any will get away, lay low and let them pass.
then send the sniper over the hill and have him hide in the bushes over looking the valley. have a 'hunting accident' with the other guy and take his launcher.
then go over the hill down the ravine.
then send in the tanks(west) and give the sniper the ok to fire at will.
send the law soldier to engage a shilka then send the rest of the squad in twards the valley as a diversion(seperate destinations and at intervals so the don't get taken out as a group).
as you get close to the scud call for the choppers, and have the squad(except sniper)withdraw to the woods(most won't make it).
spot for the sniper to kill soldiers for you, so you don't draw any attention.
then lock-on with the gustav, fire, and runlike hell, back up through the ravine and over the hill.
