Title: Good Times!
Post by: MOIL on June 09, 2005, 07:00:23 PM
Once again I must put my vote in for fun new vehicles and equipment that I believe should be implemented into AH.

First of couse, The Wirbelwind............Yes!

Second on the list, you guessed it......better airfield protection

We have the Panzer & Tiger and the T34. How bout the Sherman Firefly for US

Then I advocate....

or a ZSU-23 b/c it had better performance in the field.

For those pesky NOE buffs

And if the whining continues disembark troops from M3's with MANPADS - that'll make life difficult!

Well you could substitute the Shilka with the ZU-23 which is hand operated but the same gun package minus 2 cannons. That was end of WW2 / Korea era.

Sherman Firefly V C would be for the Brits, not US and due to the penetration on the 17lber would need to be perked somewhat, lest Tiger Is cease to be really viable.

The Wirbelwind would be fine.  If it was too viscious it could always be lightly perked later, like the F4U-1C.

I'm not sure the 88 would be needed along with the Wirbelwind and Ostwind.

A M4A3 Sherman with either the 75mm or 76mm gun would be a great addition too.

That's not an "88"  it's a Bofors 40mm  Anti-Aircraft gun

The rest of your statements are dead on tho:D

Ah.  Then what does it offer over the Ostwind? 3mm isn't going to make much differences, especially when the Ostwind is almost always a one hit, one kill tool.

The round must be more powerful.

Reach my friend, reach! The 40mm Bofors round has more reach than that of the Eastwind. One of the reasons why the carrier groups favored the 40mm over any other gun platform for AA defense. The quad & twin mount setups were devastating against the Kamikaze's of WWII
