If you wanna stable game- I would suggest Kali.

I used it for Fighter Duel, MechWarrior (all versions), WarBirds(H2H), and a few other (Unreal/QIII/Tribes) games that had an IPX option.

Kali acts as an IPX emulator over the internet and is *THE* definition of a stable gaming system. It acts as a chat proxy as well, then you can launch a game but it requires setting it up (which isn't too hard if you know the interface). After that, though, I'd have to say it's leaps and bounds over the UBI lobby crap.

I haven't tried Il-2 over Kali, but I guarantee you (based on successes of other games using TCP/IP vs IPX) that it is one of the most stable ways to play and offers a great central place for players to meet.

In all honesty, I think boxed games like Il-2, that offer limited MP capabilities should simply come bundled with Kali and offer you a temporary registration which you can later buy (it was 20$ when I paid for it- but that was a lifetime fee and that was over 4 years ago) to continue it.

Anyways, sorry but when there's software I like (and that's rare)... I *REALLY* like it.

Il-2 is not "supported" yet, but that just means there isn't pre-scripted shortcuts built into the kali interface download to easily run Il-2. It just takes some setting up.

I'm not suggesting this for tonite, because a few hours simply isn't long enough for people to adapt to this software. But for future missions, this is the way to go.
