I dont mean to sound like a broken record.

WEATHERING.

The both look very "painted" I dont mean as painted metal but painted as cartoonish. I do think its due to lack of weathering. Because simply it looks like each and every pixel of the same color is exactly the same color, no shift in it what so ever.

So what you need is putting more life into it. To be honest I think this is the problem with most of your skins. Like the romanian 109s. Beautifull planes but there is something missing. Some little life.

I dont know how much weathering you do and how you do it but have you read Greebos post?

The red stripe should be on both wings.
They also had an orange patch just aft of the cockpit that was something to detect gas.

This should help you out.

Wish I could find out what I did with the US Spit 9 I had just about finished.

Keep in mind these are just screen shots of a work in progress.
They are by no means finished. He's just showing you a rough draft so to speak.

I think they look GREAT as does your other skins.
Cant wait to see the finished results

Lol I know te feeling.
I'm sure I 'lost' the US Spit I did when I lost my drive months ago, explains why I can find all the layers apart from the Sqn ones.
I had done the mid stone/dark earth 'Lady Ellen III' one.

A few tips-
1) The white rectangle under the cockpit carried the names of the Pilot and his ground crew. Alas if you do it because of its location it will appear on both sides, I omitted it.
2) The underside US star will appear on both wings
3) The orange colored patch was something to do with detecting poison gas.

Believe it or not I still have the all the layers for the top one with the 'nude' on it lol.

Kev,

You say the underside star is on both wings....
Do you have a pic refrence by chance?

In American Spitfire Camo and markings VOL I I only see it on the right underside.

Also the one RogerDee is doing did not have the white rectangle. (WZ RR)

(WZ JJ) Lady Ellen III and a few others did it.

A good way to get more life into your colors is to run a grain effect on the color layer.

Sorry,
I meant because of mirroring on the AH Spit, the star will be on both underside wings. No way to avoid it.
