Just for my own satisfaction;
Why is there no B-52 bombers in the game?
-
no one would use it, the b-2 is far better.

Seriously?
Ok, on the off chance that you are actually serious:
The B-52 is not in Aces High because it is not a WWII aircraft. The first service B-52 was received by the Air Force in June, 1955. WWII ended on September 2nd, 1945 when the Japanese signed an unconditional surrender onboard the USS Missouri.
Note the nearly 10 year gap between the two.

Hi Morgorth,
>Just for my own satisfaction;
>Why is there no B-52 bombers in the game?
Probably you were thinking of the Boeing B-29 "Superfortress" which was used in the Pacific Theatre in WW2?
(The B-52 is the Boeing "Stratofortress" jet bomber which was developed in the Cold War era.)
I don't know why the B-29 is not in the game - perhaps because it was a very complex aircraft that's difficult to model in the game?

Thanks guys,
funny, I was looking at Greenpeace's site at the time of my first post and it was from there that I got the "B-52" thought.
"At 8.15 on 5 August 1945, a US B52 bomber dropped the first nuclear bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima causing tens of thousands of deaths."
Greenpeace (http://www.stopstarwars.org/html/ship6aug.html)
Upon further looking though, I see now that it was in fact a B-29
Thanks again
-
Easy, guys. HT's gonna raise a brow if he sees this one. :)
Conspiracy theories should be circulated in stealthy manner :D

lol shows how smart greenpeace is....
At 8.15 on 5 August 1945, a US B52 bomber dropped the first nuclear bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima causing tens of thousands of deaths.
I find four things wrong in the first sentence.
1. August 6th
2. B29
3. Atom Bomb
4. Dont know the exact number but it was in the 200,000 death range.

Now look here son, I'm a Liberal, but I would never, not in a million years, use Greenpeace as a reference for military hardware. The thought boggles my mind.
It is like the bumpersticker I saw on the way home today about the Navy needing to hold a bake sale to buy battleships. Painful idiocy written by people who don't even bother to educate themselves on the subject they are pontificating about. It reveals them to be idiots, well intentioned, but idiots nonetheless. And idiots can do great damage with their ill informed good intentions.

Just look at the extreme chaos caused in this forum!

:lol
Atleast you can go the the Greenpeace page any day you're bored and get a good laugh.
-
I bet the site is being visited alot :)
-
military hardware info from the greenpeace site
lolz0rs!!!111
I saw on CNN they were interviewing a guy on Iraq bombing and the newschick said" so those are same bombers that flew over germany?" and the guy was so surprised his mouth dropped and he blinked like 4 times then said "uh no these are a little newer then that"
edit oh yeah no b-29s in Ah cause tards just want the nuke
-
but the b29 should only be put into AH if it is perked, otherwise the B17 VS B24 debate would be irrelivant. also people would only use it and no other bombers simply because it is so much better than anything else.
PS
we should also have vapor trails at high altitudes and if possible durring high-G turns.
-
b29 will be the last bomber put in the game. last thing we need is another heavy allied bomber.
[edit] we need these.....

What Karnak said.
But... do people actually think that bombers used over Iraq are the same as used in WWII?
That's mindboggling to me... but seeing the B-52 reference (which is still being used and is after all very very old) it might make a little more sense.
I have a few questions though, you guys will know:
How many B-52 are still in service today?
Are there retirement plans for these aircraft and if so, when?
Are there upgrade programs being considered (you never know)?
When did the currently used B-52's enter service, as they are of a later variant? 1960's?
If you can point me to a site where this info can be found that would be great too.
-
or even one of these....
-
We definately do not need the b29, you bomber pilots got the b17 and the b24 which are plenty especially the b24 has speed, firepower, and bombload. If a new bomber would be added I would like to see the b25 the most, it has a lot of options in it.
-
no more american bombers untill the jap german and ruskie bombers are updated.
-
The only model of B-52 still in use is the B-52H. They were built from 1960 through 1962. There are probably around 50 or 60 of them still in service, and these will likely remain in service for years or possibly even decades.

I seem to recall a planned retirement in 2040 for the B-52.
If you think about it, that would be like our fighter pilots now still flying Spad XIIIs agewise. Capability is of course another thing altogether.

B29 is WOII it should be in the game

Only the prototypes were in olive drab. All of the service machines were bare metal as I understand it.

Just remember, the samurai sword killed more people in WWII than did the atom bomb.
Maybe pilots ejecting from Nip planes should get a sword instead of a .45. :p

I highly, highly doubt this to be remotely true. Swords are just too ineficient.

mm comfort girls
I want acomfort girl
-
I seen pics of early green B29's
and those skins dont look like prototypes either. I guess the makers wanted it to be historical correct.
Unless they flew sorties with prototypes.
-
I always thought the B-29 was a little....post-war...but that's just me :)
I highly doubt we'll get the B-29, hard to modell the remote controlled gun-turret, not to mention the n00k itself.
That and we already have enough allied heavies.
(makes you think what side we're on ;) )
-
I saw a documentry on the B-25 . I seem to remmeber that they were very difficult for new pilots to fly. Is this correct?
-
B26s were relatively hard for the newer pilots to fly if I recall correctly, something control surfaces maybe or maybe was engines? Anyways the second model that came out was easier to fly I think. That's going from memory correct it as much as you like.
-
the B29s that carried a-bombs had to be modified, and I dont think HTC is going to model a modified plane. Therefore, no A-Bombs.
on the other hand... those fire bombs would be good town/factory levelers;)

The second model had larger wingspan and a larger vertical stab
-
A small number of early production Boeing-built B-29's were painted olive drab. The vast majority of them were bare metal.

Yea nuke'm but ya gotta give the axsis the V2 and the V1.But emmber that there was only "2" atomic bombs, there for the perk cost would be very, very very high.

I'd vulch that...
B26s were relatively hard for the newer pilots to fly if I recall correctly, something control surfaces maybe or maybe was engines?
It was due to it's high landing speed alot of accidents occured.

I could care less about the B-29 being in or not. However,
some of you clowns go to some amazing lengths to redicule the
idea. The bird scares you that much?

no its the thought of dweebs taking a formation of B29s 10ft off the ground and sua-bombing the whole base.

I'd give her some slack: on August 6th at 8:15 am Japan Time, it was still the 5th in the USA . And atom bomb is a nuclear bomb, so #3 is okay... The number of deaths is still disputed to this day, so the only dead bang bonehead thing she said was 52 instead of 29.

Must have been some kind of time warp The second prototype, the YB-52, was actually the first to get airborne. The YB-52 (49-231) rolled out of the assembly hangar on March 15, 1952 and flew on April 15, 1952. (the first was used for ground testing)

but it was aug. 6th hwere they droped it. atom bomb is a nuclear bomb but its an atom bomb. deaths where in the hundreds of thousands not tens. if they want to dispute something they atleast need to read up on it first.
-
if any planes are added they should be the Pe-2 and the He-111 then mabey some eyetye bombers. i say we should be able so send in plane models rather than just skins and submit them for aproval. this would create a massive subcontracting effort and sooner than you can wright a flaming thread about the lack of planes you will have every plane in WWII at your disposal.
-
geaz just give us a bomber with the abomb everyone is going to drop to low and nuke themselves anayways
or
perk the bomber like 500 perks would stop a total abomb war
