I have been flying for 9 months and feel that I need some input on my stats. These stats are from start to today, and I have built a new CPU changed up sticks monitors and so on. I think I like my set up as it is and don’t plan on changing one thing. I fly the typie the most but sometimes love to turn fight. If I have killed you our we have been involved in a fight I would like some input about my acm our just some basic info on my progress so far. Are my stats common for new players? Do I have a good rep with other players? I would just like to know goods and bad of my game play. I don’t like to talk trash and try to give a gk when I feel someone was a good match for me. So please inform me on my progress…. Some back ground AW for 3 years Current squad is WOT.

stop looking at score/stats and have fun
doesn't the need/drive to improve on your stats detract from your overall total joy you receive from the game?

What he said. :)

I would just like some input thats all. I dont look at stats that much and yes i have fun. I am just trying to help out my game play. Also unlike some other players i do care of what other pleople think of me. Is this not a fare question?
-
What do the stats tell me?
Either you learned to Vulch in a fast plane and when to bug out if it gets hot. Or you learned to dogfight really well. Huge difference in how good you are, same stats.
Though I would guess the first looking at what planes you have flown through the tours.
Tour 65 - 109-G10
Tour 64 - Typhoon and Tempest
Tour 63 - Typhoon and Nikki
Tour 62 - Typhoon, Nikki, Tempest, C-Hog
Tour 61 - Nikki, Typhoon
Tour 60 - Nikki, Typhoon
Tour 59 - Typhoon, Spit9
Tour 58 - Spit9, La7
Tour 57 - Spit9, SpitV, Seafire, 190F-8
Your gameplay picked off when you ditched the slow planes and went for the faster ones with huge cannons. So to be honest I would say that you vulch alot and flee alot.
You asked, I answered.

Ya i do like the fast birds but to tell you the truth its because i got Po when people were out running me. Thanks Tex

Ok, from what little I can tell (all of the numbers are run together) , I would say you have become very proficient at field supression (vulching) and/or flying with a horde. I make this assertion based on the high K/D and high K/T. Generally, that is the best way to get high scores in both.
No, this isn't a judgement...just telling you what I see from the numbers. As you can see, the ways that scores can be read are not always flattering. So, play...and have fun...because THAT is the point of it. :)
-
Just had a quick check, your k/d can be accounted to your choice of aircraft type, your k/d is better when you stay out of turnfighters.
It is quite clear you have made progess, statistically wise, since you started, wtg.
As others have stated, if you constantly refer to stats to judge the progress you are making, you will have far less fun than if you do not worry about stats.
OTOH If you do not worry about stats, you will not need them to tell yourself (and others) how good you are.
It is when you can regularly win at a disadvantage, either by numbers or by energy situation and/or win in an inferior plane that is a better judge of your ability. Anyone can swoop in and pick someone unawares.
Lets face it, the only person that will probably ever see your stats is you.

You do very good FX. I thought you took to AH very well and very fast. To be honest, I try to match up K/D with K/H to make a determination whether someone is timid or not, and frankly I can't amass a 13+ k/h even when I fly straight into the dogfight everytime. Think the best I got was a tour or so ago and that was 12+. Although, I have since stopped looking and had a little more fun, but different strokes for different folks I guess. The G10 is a fun ride, and I don't blame ya for using it at all. Try the F model sometime for some real fun :D

Thanks guys this is just what i need. I have been in a slump and this will help me out. I did this so i could have a better understanding to help me to become a better pilot.

Slumps...gotta love 'em. :) My favorite slump buster is to take a zero up from a capped field until the baddies are dead...or outta ammo. The laffs I have while watching enemas trip over themselves trying to kill the wittle zero seem to pull me right out of it. :D

Problem with flying the fast planes you do fly is that they have a easy option button.
When you screw up you can always run.
The result of that is that your K/D stays high while you actually dont improve as a pilot.
Seriously if you wana improve as a pilot you should remove the easy option for your self. Easy option beeing either when all fails run or when all fails turn till the enemy pukes.
Two planes that really elevate your skill are the F6F and the P47. The Jug has a bit of a easy option in the dive but if you fly the Jug as a E fighter and really do set the goal for your self to learn E fight in it on the edge of the envelope then you will evolve as a pilot.

Nothing will make AH less fun faster than to seriously care what others think of you. It can be fun to try to achieve a particular K/D, rank, streak or whatever; but don’t look beyond yourself for enjoyment of your achievement.

mix it.
Fly a Hurri IIC or Spit V exclusively for defence (teach you those overshoot moves as the enemies will usually be coming in more E) then offensively choose anything you feel like flying.
You will find yourself using the tactics used in the turnfighter to get yourself out of a sticky situation in the E fighter. (yes, G10's and D-9's can do ACM too ;))

but dedalos say's they can't and dont.
im so confused now.

I have keeping my spit 5 skills at a high level by going into the da for 30mins before i pop into main. One think i dont like are big furballs getting picked by 10 la7's doesnt sound like fun. I was thinking next camp will be for spit's only.

Ahem...
I would think that vulching could explain a 13k/h. Think about it... vulch... fly to end O runway vulch... loop over D top stay on same side o runway... vulch... rinse/repeat. Someone could get a healthy bag O scalps in under an hour in this situation. Not saying anything about FX or your philosophy, it just doesn't add up in my book. A good BnZer run takes time and patience to climb, zoom, climb, zoom, and hold E to stay in controll of the fight. I also can't see a furballer ever reaching a k/h of 13 very easily.
BTW Howi.... when did all you WoTs scurry off to the BKs? ...Oh yeah, and tell hub that he still sucks, even if he is wearing blue panties now :D
-
Oh yeah, didn't want to come off so negative FX. For someone who is fairly new to the game, you could hold your own in that tiffie even a few tours back
.

I think this is the quote that says it the best. The other suggestions and tips are helpfull, but ya can live by this one.
My numbers aren't the best, but I do watch them just to see where I may be slipping. For me the numbers are a fare reprisentation of me in the MA. I don't vulch much, I don't run. I bomb when I want to, and use a hvy fighter when I want to. All the time, when it comes to the fight, bombs are forgotten and the fight is all there is. So ya I get stuck when I should have fled the area and die more often than not, but thats how I play the game. I fly to fight, thats it!
As you have seen, your score can be read many ways, only you really know how good a fighter you are, or buff pilot, or what ever. I know in a 1 vs 1 fight I'll give ANYBODY a good fight, and I might even win a few, thats good enough for me. So I ask you... FX1 how good are ya? :)
-
I've fought FX1 in the DA once or twice. He knows what he's doing. Although he shouldn't be picking on a newbie like me. It's been 7-8 months for me, doesn't seem that long  Time flies when you're having fun I guess.

It is amazing! I have been flying for more than 14 months, but never been even close to your score! WTG and
!
You are Iron Man, everybody have to begrudge your will power. When I got 2.5 K/D in 2 tours it became so boring that I gave up. I am weak human being...
-
FX1, are you having more fun now than you did nine months ago? If so, then that's what I call progress. :)

The man said it....... this is one of the biggest problems with main arena.. It forces players to fly late war (more survivable) planes, in order to stay competive.
-
I think gunnery is one stat people should work on. The problem there is no way to keep bombers out of the stat and if you shoot a lot of bombers it inflates the stat. But if you hit more when you bring guns to bear, the game is a WHOLE LOT MORE FUN.
It really frustrating to do all this wiggling and get 200 yards off a target's six, and just miss. Miss miss miss. uggg - i hate that.
I don't mine losing, especially when ManeTMP or the like does some incredible move that put them behind me, but I HATE to flat out miss, just MISS.
-
Having fun is most important..that being said, ive only seen you on my 6 when i take off. Ive been where u are now, your getting bored and what to improve as an acm pilot right? Throw out the stats and everything else..grab a turner and head into the furball. You WILL get killed alot but u obviously have some skill. The SA you use now in combination with some real dogfighting skills will make you much deadlier. Take those 2 or 3 cons chasing you out over the water and reverse on them..

Scrap,
No I understand where you are coming from completely. But that assumption is made with the understanding that cons will keep upping from the field. After about 3 minutes, the vulch is probably over and you will have to move on. So, if you fly with the friendly horde alot, chances are your K/H won't be very high. I think it can work either way and its hard to tell just from the stats. As for WoT going to BK, just me and hub went over, but it had nothing to do with a disagreement or anything like that, all of them are good guys.
And a big YES for the blue panties. I have some pics if you are interested :aok

I'd like to retrack my statement. FX1 was smacking me around today in DA. I've upgraded him to HaXX0r:) Was fun FX
bud.

Do what makes you happy! Whatever that may be. People might call you a dweeb but it doesn’t matter. It’s a game. If stats make you happy, so be it. If you want a real measure of how "good" you are first you must figure out what you want to be good at. And then fight people who you know are good in the area you are trying to improve in. It’s something I did in Air Warrior a lot, and later on when I got decent I was always glad to help someone out when they needed it. I could definitely use some "training" in AH but I really don't have the time these days, and I would rather just have fun in the arena instead of working on my skill like I did in AW. Bottom line… do what is important to you, but in MY opinion, stats are not really a reliable indication of what Skills you possess.
-
I no longer give two chit's what other's think of me in the MA. I've kilt the best and been shot down by the same. I enjoy busting balls on 200, and shootin down enemies. I now enjoy "walking into many cons" and fighting my way out.
What other's think is a useless point to even try to reach. Just have fun.

Thanks guys this has really helped me out. just had that feeling like i hit a brick wall and i wasnt learning anything new. I never had someone to teach me i like to learn by death (: I was hoping to get a better feel for were i stand. I have been around some great guys and i respect other players that show that they can have fun at this game. I think i take stuff to personal and would like to make progress learning new tricks.. Thanks guys

Use ur mouth more and shout ur the best here.
Than let somebody invite u in the dreamteam.

FX1, if you want to get better as a fighter pilot, then fight the best and listen. I am just not looking at the cores anymore myself. It hampers one from taking the chances. If you work hard enough at the scores, then you'll be very good at manipulating the scores. Problem is there are many out there who are dmn good sticks and stats will not tell you that. DA time with helpful and good sticks is the best way to go as far as learning the "tricks". I would follow furball's advice. Oh, and learning how to dodge bullets is very helpful too! :)

FX1
The only way you can know if you are good or not is to constantly expose your self to uncomfortable situations. Learn what situations you can and cant handle. Once you have learned that learn to handle situations you cant handle.
Can you win a 1v2 or 1v3. Can you win em in any plane? Can you win situaitons where you are in a E disadvantage?
Stagnation comes to never exposing one self to a risk.
Always feeling safe and knowing one can get away with a effort leads to booredom if you are of competetive nature.
Tex

when you can take a 110 and dive it into a mass of spittards and come out with 5 kills in the ensuing furball, then you are good. Oh yeah keeping a 7-1 kill ratio as a furballer also means you are good.
-
Like everyone says, having fun is most important. I am by no means an excellent stick, would consider myself average. I am willing to go in where it is hot, knowing death is likely to hit a strat. Some call it suicide, they are probably right, I call it getting an objective done to better the common good. You dont really die anyway afterall and it is a game.
I want to fly to live but realize in the MA there is more fun to be had getting in the thick of stuff and in doing so I usually will die. Hopefully this happens after getting a few myself. I fly to live in Squad Ops. That is a different kind of game. I havent tried the Combat Theatre much but would think I would fly to live there. Bottom line, score does not mean anything to me.
