I entered the TA last night for my first time, since I am stupid and decided to 'learn' the game in the MA with some squaddies.
Anyways...I found the flight characteristics of the planes I was flying vastly different than those in the MA.
For example, flying the Fw-190 D9 is very difficult, since anytime you come out of a hard banking turn, you end up losing control and going into a spin. This can happen sometimes in the MA when your a noob.
Same was true for the P-51D, although it wasnt quite as touchy as the 190.
Is this 'the way it should be' in the TA? I find it very silly to train on equipment different than what you will use when flying 'for real'. Plus, anyone who wants to refine ACM skills has to learn anew the art of controlling planes in the TA, otherwise, they have to learn control and not ACM.

I think the stall AoA is slightly different in the TA. It's a very small difference that probably makes flying for the first time slightly less frustrating. I don't think it's enough of a difference to change things for the noobs when they get to the MA.
-
I also think TA might have stall limiter off by default. Not sure about that though.
-
Flight modeling in the TA is exactly the same as it is in the MA. HTC does not dumb it down.
My regards,
Widewing

Im telling you, it is DIFFERENT. Get in your favorite fighter, and practice dogfighting one of the trainers.

I concur with Widewing
check your plane to make sure you are using the same fuel loadout, ammo load out, make sure no ordanance is loaded.
make sure you have stall limiter set the same as you do in the MA ( most people fly with stall limiter turned off )
make sure you are flying the same way in regards to using Combat Trim or manually trimming your plane.
there can be alot of variables that would make someone think it is different between the 2 arenas.
beyond that, can not anyone check the arena settings themselves to compare the differences? only difference I know of is the in ability to kill planes in the Training arena......
btw---- Widewing is one of the Trainers as well as myself

Nope, it ain't different dan61psu.
Widewing IS a Trainer.
I have been here since AW died and have noticed absolutely no difference in flight modeling between any of the arenas.
I don't doubt you are experiencing a different feeling in the TA, but can pretty much guarantee it has nothing to do with flight modeling. We tend to fly a little different depending on what the "modus operandi" is in the arena we are in.
Could it be that you are flying a bit more agressively in the TA than you would normally in the MA?
Just something to chew on.
Cheers,
RTR

When I was trying out AH for the first time, I noticed that in TA the stall limiter was off by default and and I couldnt find a way to switch it on (in my client it was on  ) , that evanually forced me to learn to fly without the stall limiter.

I believe there is alot more going on around you and you lose the ability to judge your e state. when there is more than one enemy to watch and they are at different alts you are losing track of your e:)
-
maybe the wind is different or it could be a mess up on your part?
-
Wind is off in both arenas.
See, the thing is, in the TA, I win 90% of my fights. In the MA, it's opposite of that. I'm just as tense with MORE fuel and the same hardware, yet I usually win. Sometimes it's even the same opponents.
I'm not saying that the arena is different in some way. I think there a psycological aspect between 20 guys talking and learning to 500 guys, 350 of which are trying to kill you.

Something else to consider. Do you take the same fuel loadouts as you do in the MA? In the MA you burn fuel fast, and sometimes have a several minute flight climbing to the fight. You have to take plenty of fuel. In the TA there are no such worries, you can take a smaller fuel load and jump right in.

Did you ever think that the trainer is bringing you much closer to the edge of the flight envelope than you have ever been before. This results in you stalling a lot more. Being new to the flight regime of this game it is fairly easy to be taken to the ragged edge then fall off the back side in a stall.
Training rule 1: There is no substitute for stick time.
Training rule 2: There is no substitute for quality stick time.
Suggestion: Spend time with a trainer and make sure you get your stick set up correctly then get some stick time with him.
Hope this helps.

You probably have stall limiter on in MA,
and its off in TA,,even if you click it on,,TA wont allow stall limiter
suggest leave it off in MA, it may take a few days getting used to, but you will enjoy the rewards down the road
