I heard the yak-3s were excelent interceptors/fighters at low-mid altitude range...

But what's the deck speed?

Its always argued here (but what do we know) that the Yak 3 would be so similar to the Yak 9U as to become a duplicate.

Actually (IMO) the Yak 3 would out perform the Yak9U in much the same way as one may use a SpitV over a SpitIX.

The 9U seems to have the edge above 8k ('ish) in all respects.

The 9U is more robust.

The 3 is lighter (quite significantly) and more manouverable where it can use its power (low alt).

The Yak3, La7 (2 x Shvak) and the Yak 9U were the three top line VVS fighter/interceptor ac of 1944. they were introduced to front line units in that order above with La7 (3 xb20) being added belatedly in 45.

We already have 2 uber '44 rides for the VVS. We need early and mid-war rides to balance things, NOT more uber late-war rides, that are 99% identical to a plane we already have.
