Meddle
They just seemed to lose their edge after that...Went kinda artsy and soft.
Best they ever did was Piper...That Sid was genious..

My fav is Meddle as well. Echoes is a masterpiece in it's own right.
SirLoin, if you like Piper. Try and get the Mono Edition. It "showcases" Syd's guitar work more than the usual Stereo version. If you can't find it, I can burn it for you.
They still are my fav band otherwise.

Piper and Saucer were both great, but I agree, Meddle is the best.

I dunno, Dark Side of the Moon has always been my favorite. Maybe because I listened to it wearing headphones while riding my motorcycle across the Mojave Desert in February of '79. Comfortably Numb at 90mph, the road rising and falling beneath me, warm wind in my face...

I always liked Time and Any Color you Like from Dark Side of the Moon.
Comfortably numb is always a classic, have both albums.
Went to see a laser show at the Imax theater in St Louis once done to Floyd music. Wow.

D'OH! :) Anyway, it was DSOTM I was listening to. Which cut is it that has the chick singing like she's having an orgasm? It was almost hypnotic listening to it.
Rode my bike from Ft. Worth to Seattle via California returning from leave. Rained almost the whole trip except for that stretch thru the Mojave. The best part of the whole trip.

My fav song is "A bevy of small furry animals gathered together groving in a cave blahblahblah..etc"

79? were did you put the the turntable on you bike? :D
I love listening to stories by senior sitizens from back in the day when everything was in black and white. :)

The Wall is one of my least favorite Floyd songs. It was played to death just like Clapton's Cocaine. I just got sick of hearing it.
-
eh...dark side of the moon hands down, it beat mj's thriller in record sales i think last years. allan parsons was the producer, tales and imaginations of edgar allan poe was a great album.

Heh, I had a cassette player bungee'd onto the backrest. Along with my seabag and 2 suitcases. The bike weighed a ton and everything was soaking wet. But dam it was fun.

Try it again then! im sure you would enjoy Pink that way today too. You would go alot slower and you would need more breakes, but whats stopping you?
Get one of those bikes with a sidecar and you could bring the missus too :)
-
I'd love to, but I don't think the body is up to another one of that distance. The last long ride was when I was discharged in Seattle and rode to Denver where my bike got stolen. I came back via Yellowstone in the autumn. It was beautiful scenery to say the least, but getting my bike stolen was definitely a buzzkill.

I mean really, the segue from "Heroes Return" to "Gunners Dream" alone makes this their best.
