And I agree. Only I wouldn't want one with some poor graphics.

whatever zigrat, sure.
i was looking at that picture and noticed something in the background.
is that a radar post?
i often wondered if the WW2 radar emplacments were little satellite dishes or big ones like seen in this picture.
im no history master, but im guessing the latter.
Why no have radar like this at the fields, and other radar installations scattered around the map.
it would make a good strat target (that is, if it affected actual radar status in any given area.)
-
Yes, there were dish radars in WW2.
As for doing something better...hmmm. ;)
-
Wheres that screeny from? SWOTL? Ace over the Pacific? Looks 'dated'.
-
WB III I beleive.
To me it looks drawn or painted. It lacks depth..for a lack of beter description or word at the moment that's al I can put my finger on.
Take the AH KI-61 or Ju-88 and get external with the same POV and same distance. You'll see what I mean.

It is retouched. There are no shadows in WBIII.
-
Aha! Rgr on the shadow. I'd noticed that but thought it was just a typical distortion effect due to the screen shot being from a close, external POV. But it's more than just the shadow. If the plane has been messed with via Paintshop or Photoshop then it's a bad example of what AH (or WBIII) needs.

It looks much, much better in game, beautiful, in fact.

I need to brush up on my radar theory, but I believe the tiny radar antennas found currently in AH would be near worthless in the real world of the early 1940's. Too small. Not enough gain.
-
lol Zig. I get THAT from the guy who couldn't even get the picture to work? :)
CC Gadly. I'l take your word for it. I was keeping current but I'd gotten behind by one version. I coudn't update it via the patches on the iEN site as they remove the old patches so I just uninstallled WBIII altogther. I was not going to download that huge file again for something I didn't even really use.

Ahhh, that looks MUCH better. Thanks!
-
It's the wrong damn version.
P-40E is the way to go!

Much better. Thanks.
FWIW WB 2.77 would be a step back from AH for me imo. If anything got me curious it would be whats happening with WBII. And to be honest for the first time ever the current topics and trends in AH has made me curious. I just hate iEN and almost as much a couple of the WBIII team. That outweighs my issues with AH. I'd much rather suffer a game under HTC than a sim by iEN. But still, I'm definately curious. When's the next free weekend?

Dunno about the free weekend, but the way I look at it, I'm playing the game, not marrying the developer's daughter.
I only play WB2.77 because of the squad; that is what makes ANY game fun for me. As for WB3.x, it looks to be shaping up into a great game, but isn't there yet for me, mostly, as stated, because the squad is still limited to WB2.77. The squad also plays some WWIIol and is working to get Il-2 going, and again, that is what makes for a good online experience.
The differences between AH, WB and WWIIol are less than we pretend, mainly it has to do with who we fly with, not what game we fly.
All that said, some things just do not do it for me, like the AWACs radar here, the lack of "polish" in WB3, etc.
All I know is that we have more GOOD choices than we ever have before as fans of WWII and Aviation, Salute ALL the designers!
