Eskimo, I believe, instituted the custom of reviewing CT setups at the end thereof. We've let that tradition lapse for quite awhile. On the assumption that criticism can lead to positive changes, and this being the last day of the Dunkirk setup, I thought it would be a good idea to try to reinstitute the practice.
The main lesson I got out of this was that the arena will draw more furballers than simulationists. The numbers immediately went up when we implemented Eskimo's and Eagler's suggestion to enable RAF planes at Dunkirk. Future attention to close base proximity is assured (in my case, at least).
I was a little disappointed that the 1940 plane set doesn't appeal to more people, but I guess that's a lesson to draw as well.
Interestingly, I saw comparatively few of the current CT regulars. Many new faces, a surprising number of the "old" regulars. Why is that?
What else?

I just didnt have time this week. As seems to be an all to often reoccuring problem lately. By the time I can get online the CT is usually empty (being 6 hours behind eastern time doesnt help). The few times I DO get online while folks are there, it never fails I get called away for something after less than an hour.

Real life time played a huge role in me not being there. I honestly think this setup could have another role in the CT in the future again. But I am one who doesn't mind flying from farther back to "simulate" the way it was back then. I remember times in the CT of having that huge France map and only flying allied out of England with big number (for the arena 50+) and going deep to find the German bombers headed for England.
Oh well as usual I took off on a tangent. LOL

I thought the 109e v hurri1/spit1 matchup was great
low numbers = small map/close bases. as the numbers ar low in ct, the maps should always be small or the bases close together
thanks for a great ct week OM

I honestly thought the 110c would be the dominant Axis fighter. It earned only 57 kills to the 109E’s 165 kills (as of Thursday-daytime). I am still puzzled because I managed a streak of 27 kills with no deaths (using B&Z tactics). It’s the fastest of the group by far and has the best guns by far.
Set-ups are ALWAYS most successful when there is a short drive between enemy bases. I would like to always see close bases on opposite sides to promote furballs.
Thanks for experimenting Oldman.

I find the early and mid war set ups more inviting in the CT. I can fly and fight late war planes all I want in the MA.

The one night I did get to fly, it was fun. Both sides were interesting, whether 109 or Spit. I always like the early war matchups.

I'd have played more but RL is sucking up a lot of time right now.
I enjoyed both sides of the 109/Spit match; it's maybe the first or second time I've ever flown the E and I have a lot to learn about it. It was all good though.
I did find that 5 or less in the arena is boring (no planes at Dunkirk when I was up) and 10 or more is good times.
Overall, with planes at Dunkirk from the get-go and 8-10 guys on it would have been very good throughout.

I want to commend you on the writeup and structure of this CT. As one who prefers bombers, it was neat to actually have a defined mission for those of 'us'.
Unfortunately, I, too, had a rough RL week and only got to spend a couple nights in the CT. And it seems the times I can be online it's pretty thin in numbers. ( 11pm - 1AM Eastern )
I hope you can find a way to incorporate a base bomber mission in future write-ups with the fighters for the offensive side given the choice of escort or furball.
Thanks again!

Nice suggestion Drone. I hope that with the inclusion of bombers and short flight times this week with North Africa 1944 that it helps with that idea as well.

im trying to get 100 kills in p40b in the ma. i love the challenge

It was a good setup. But the CT is allways empty. Most players that would enjoy the CT have moved on to other games maybe. I mean if you look at the old players that still play AH, there the ones that were allways in the MA anyway. There's only about a dozen of us that would rather be in the CT than the lgay7 arena. And even if all of us were on at the same time. Twelve players in one arena is still an empty arena.
Again, good setup, but most I saw in there at any one time was three. And that's counting that 9670 no-name guy who never flies.

True Suave, but the sad fact about it all is if the player base started coming into the CT, it would just turn into the MA. The plane set would be more even, but the horde wars, cherrying, dive bombing buffs and the HO and zoom, etc... would be the order of the day. It's kind of a catch 22, low numbers with guys that actually want to fight or another MA.
