It never even opened up to the point of saying what the file was, just a box then it hung up. Oh well, no big deal.

Yep - QT. No problem playing it.

I get about 15 emails a month bearing a similar message - holder of a large fund (usually $25m) has been killed by rebels/war/disease/car accident blah blah... As MAV has observed, with Beet1e in my email address, they think I'm related to the other insects! I even have a filter on my Yahoo mail to offload anything containing "Africa". A slight problem, because it catches AH BB mailer items when StarOfAfrica makes a posting - lol.
