Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/) ...just awesome! Check out the satellite view.

Holy crap!   I centered a fully-zoomed map on my house, and then clicked satellite photo.   I got a photo showing the same area as the map, and it even shows my boat in our driveway hooked up to the Explorer.

Any way to find out the date on these images?   That is almost scary.

I never much liked MapQuest anyway. I used to prefer MapBlast until Microsoft took it and discontinued all support for Palm Pilots.

The lakes are getting more crowded (both with other boats and exotic weeds) every year.    I think we had a handful of deaths last year - alcohol and excessive speed are often involved.

Still, I think every citizen who wants a boat should be able to own and operate one, without registration or restriciton of any kind.   Even if they are convicted of a boat crime, on their first day out of prison, give 'em the keys to their boat back on their way out.

If boats are criminalized, only criminals will have boats.

You can't tell much from the satellite photo; the Explorer is a couple of black pixels and the boat is a few bright white ones sitting on the slightly darker cement driveway - but still its kind of creepy.

If you could really get extreme closeups, I'd recommend examining the neighbor's swimming pool for bathing beauties over my 12 yr old speedboat (even if its in excellent condition).

You should see that exact same picture when zoomed in to the max on the Government's site.

You really should wash that spot of bird doo off your Explorer's right front fender down by the headlight. That stuff is bad for the paint!

Pretty cool maps.  Unfortunately I was unable to get a real close-up where I live.  I guess big brother doesn't need alot of coverage up here in Canuckland.

It missed our address by two houses. Nice to know the neighbors are going to get it when one of you finally come hunting for me.

I think they should tax boat owners at a very high rate and give the money to poor people who don't own one.  We all know that boat owners are rich :)

Or in North Texas, either. BTW, it missed my address by 1 mile.

The date varies onmost addresses, but they are definintley not from the past 2 years.  This was posted on another forum, and it was discovered that these views were pretty old soon after a poster cried that this was bad for national security.

Both my parents are from Mankato, and my Dad is a MSU alum.   I grew up in Fairmont, about 50 mi S of Kato.   Went to the U of M and stayed in the Twin Cities afterwards.

Hope you have good weather in the UP!  So far its been rainy here -first real nice weather of summer came this week.   PM me if you find yourself in the metro area with some free time!
