Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'.  We're gonna do what they say can't be done.  We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there.  I'm eastbound, just like a bandit, run!

Listen up, they're thirsty in Atlanta and there's beer in Texarkana.

Great movie, I watch it with my son everytime it comes on.  Foolish me thought that was the only thing Jerry Reed ever did.  Then I got turned on to his guitar playing and oh my god.....  The guy is a monster.

Kinda hard to think of something good about that movie... except maybe Sally Field changing clothes in a fast moving firebird.

Haven't seen the censored version, dont think it excist over here. Is it "bleeped" or some other noise over the words?

MT is a fan of The English Patient variety of films.  And it's not a Firebird, it's a Trans Am.  BIGGGGGGGG difference.  I know, I had a Smokey and the Bandit edition 1977 T/A in high school.

If you're ever going to be a true redneck you must understand the difference between a firebird and Trans Am...

Naming: Many people get confused about the differences between a Firebird and a Trans Am. Basically Firebird is more of a base model and Trans Am is an overall upgrade package on top of the Firebird. During these years there was also Firebird S/E, which was somewhat between Firebird and Trans Am in hierarchy. I've read somewhere that from 1982 to 1984, Firebird and Trans Am were totally separate models which just happened to share the same body style, but I'm thinking more and more that this is false. In all other generations the Trans Am has been an upgraded version of the Firebird, not separate from it. Technically the full model name of the '82 Recaro T/A is supposed to be Firebird Trans Am but that's a little too long so most people just call it a Trans Am. Trivial anyway.. who cares? I'm more interested in the car itself.

Amos Moses is an awesome tune. Jerry Reed did some great stuff before he went commercial.

Well Amos Moses was a Cajun,
He lived by himself in the swamp.
He hunted alligators for a livin,
He just knocked 'em in the head with a stump.
The Louisiana law gonna get ya Amos
It ain't legal hunting alligators down in the swamp, boy

Well everybody blames his old man,
For makin' him mean as a snake,
When Amos Moses was a boy
His daddy would use him for alligator bait.
Tie a rope around his neck, and throw him in the swamp,
Alligator bit him in a Louisiana bayou

About 45 minutes southeast of Thibodeaux, Louisiana
Lived a man named Doc Milsap and his pretty wife Hanna
hey raised up a son who could eat up his weight in groceries,
Named him after a man of the cloth,
Called him Amos Moses

Well, the folks around south Louisiana
Said Amos was a hell of a man
He could trap the biggest, the meanest alligator
And just use one hand
That's all he's got left cause an alligator bit him
Left arm gone clean up to the elbow

Well the sheriff caught wind that Amos
Was in the swamp huntin' alligator skins
So he snuck in the swamp, gonna getcha boy,
But he never come out again.
Well, I wonder where the Louisiana sheriff went to?
You can sure get lost in a Louisiana bayou!

About 45 minutes southeast of Thibodeaux, Louisiana
Lived a man named Doc Milsap and his pretty wife Hanna
They raised a son who could eat up his weight in groceries,
Named him after a man of the cloth,
Called him Amos Moses

He also did some decent acting in Bat21.

actually IIRC that was a 6.6 TA

meaning a 6.6 liter big block, MUCH more power than a lame firebird ; P

the 6.6 was the schnizzit!

Hooper is the greatest stuntman movie evar! Just watching Robert Kline getting punched in the face makes it worthy.
