What I drive now:
A 2003 Aerio SX, Progress Technology suspension (springs, camber kit and rear anti-roll bar, lowered almost 2 inches), 15x7 SuzukiSport wheels, with 205/50-15 Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires (I stayed with 15" wheels as 45 or 40 series tires would substantially add to the already very harsh ride). Custom Aerodyne rear disk brake kit. A small fortune was dumped into the motor (Whelmann Racing), 182 hp at wheels (stock was 121 hp at wheels, 145 hp SAE net). Badly in need of limited slip... Axle hop and wheel spin up the wazoo... Very little torque steering tho. Much better than my 1986 Shelby GLH-S (recently sold).
It flat-out owns my buddy's 2004 WRX and feels much quicker than my 2003 WRX (also sold). Not a world beater by any stretch, but a quick, superb handling daily hauler. It's one of three Suzukis we own, as well as a 2002 Dodge minivan that my wife is very attached to (I despise the damn thing).
What I want to drive:
Caterham Super Seven RoadSport SV. 202 bhp engine, 1,430 lbs with full gas tank. 0-60 in low 4 second range (3.4 seconds for 250 hp version). Closest thing to a formula car for the street.

Years ago, Lotus sold the tooling and manufacturing rights to Caterham. New, ready to drive Caterhams can be purchased in Europe. Here in the States they are sold as a rolling chassis. You buy the car and the power train from the dealer, but you must assemble the car yourself (or pay someone else to). This is due to the car not being certified to various US requirements.
Since you live in Florida, you may want to visit Caterham South down in Stuart. Here's their website (http://www.caterhamsouth.com/)
Perhaps when my two daughters graduate college (one next year, the other in 2008), maybe I'll be able to afford one of these monsters. But, paying tuition and housing costs for two kids limits my expendable income considerably.

That Cannondale is sweet Sandy!
How much?
-
That's a Cannondale Prophet Team Replica... runs for about $3,500 US.
I've not test ridden one, but I've tested the Cannondale Jekyll and a Bionicon.
The Jekyll is also sweet and it's only $1,900 or so.
The Bionicon Edison is probably the most comfortable mountain bike I've ever ridden.
It's about $3,500. The interesting thing in the Bionicon is the ability to adjust the front and rear shocks on the fly simply by pressing a button and leaning forward or back. The shocks share an air reservoir.

just sold my 1300 Hayabusa after spending 18 hours in jail(worst part was the food, gave me the shiits and taking dumps as female sheriffs and DA assistance wander past is a bit embarassing since its a clear plastic paneled holding area)....172mph on the freeway, got tagged for only 144mph though.. bastage was on frontage road at 5:45am trying to follow me but had to call ahead to vector in other units to me.
so now i'm just stuck with a new maxspeed miata5x 172hp turbo which someone promptly cut the top and stole my 1050 $ radio and one bose speaker and did 6200 $ damage to interior and top stealing it...thank god for insurance and 100$ deductibles.

What I drive now--1995 Buick Roadmaster w/LT1, very similar to this one:
Won't turn any heads, but goes well enough in a straight line, holds the road as well as it needs to, and has a nice soft roomy ride which so many tin-can cars lack.
What I'd like to have:
Well...pretty happy with current vehicle although it's sort of drab looking....if I had additional disposable imcome I wouldn't mind a '58 Plymouth Fury (2d) or a '59 Cadillac Eldorado. I like chrome and fins and whitewalls.
Someone above posted a pic of a "2007" Mercury Cougar....I love that grille, I hope they build it exactly as-is. Heck, it even has the correct number of doors, unlike the new Charger. All that Mercury needs are Chrome bumpers and mirrors.

I saw one of those in Warwick (GB) about a week ago. It was painted the brightest red you can image and had the numberplate "LAZ 98".
And I thought "uh-huh, yeah right, I can really see Lazs driving round in one of those tiny little things."

Momus! Capri boy? You cannot be serious! You make me feel young again. :D The Capri was OK in its day. But more power than it could handle. A friend of mine had a 3.0s in the 70s and said the back end would be all over the place. No limited slip diff by the sound of it. How do you like the Merc C Class? I was thinking about getting one.
But in all probability, I'll settle on this now that they've finally come up with the 4WD version. The front end of my Mk4 can be like the back end of a Capri! Expecting to do the deal in Sept/Oct, or at least before the winter. Likely to choose this colour too.

nice car Rip, what model is it?
-
wide... Friend of mine has one of those 7's an original one... it makes my Healey seem like a roomy luxury car. They are not too slow tho and handle pretty good. sounds like crap tho.
I have now... 55 Healey superman with 331 400+ hp chevy V8 and muncie 4 speed bilstein shocks and too many mods to mention..
I have now a 69 el camino with 468 big block and richmond gear 6 speed and hotchkiss and bilstien suspension..
have a R75/6 BMW bike my son gave me to put around on and with.
I have now a 2000 Lincoln town car for driving the smml's around
I am happy with the selection.. I could use more time to play with em.
I might someday want to build another 55-62 vette with c6 or better drivetrain.

From Car and Driver Magazine:
"Allied with Ford’s 2.0-liter SVT Focus four-cylinder, a close-ratio six-speed gearbox, and grippy Avon CR500 tires, this adds up to lively acceleration: 0 to 60 in four seconds flat, 0 to 100 in 11.8, the quarter-mile in 13.0 at 103 mph. Only the Cobra was quicker.
The Caterham’s minimal curb weight pays off in other measurable areas. The Seven recorded 1.02 g on the skidpad, out-quicked the Elise in the lane change, and needed only 152 feet to stop from 70 mph, one of the best braking performances we’ve recorded for a street-legal car. (The best—145 feet—was by the Porsche Carrera GT we tested last month.) The Caterham was also fastest during our lapping at BeaveRun, and it was the back-road champ on the hilly byways of southeast Ohio—provided those byways weren’t too lumpy.
Anyone who looks for passenger-car virtues in a Caterham is bound to be disappointed. This car is a specialist, designed for terrorizing back roads on weekend mornings, or making everyone else look slow at a track day. It’s a car you don like a Superman suit. Once you’ve wriggled into it, you’ll be able to fly. As automotive toys go, it’s far from cheap. But few, if any, offer more agility for the money."
The Elise offers only slightly less performance (depending upon which engine and which Caterham, the 202 hp Superlight 7 hits 60 in 3.7 seconds), but offers far more comfort. Neither would be deemed a daily driver, but if you HAD to drive one of these every day, the Elise is the one I would choose.
My regards,
Widewing

I don't hold out much hope of actually getting a Capri, a friend had a 3.0S and it took a lot of work to keep it running. I don't really have much of a clue about the mechanical side, I just like to drive 'em. Yes, it is overpowered, but I'm not a boy racer type; I just liked them ever since my late '70s-'80s boyhood.
The C Class Coupé is a nice drive; I do anything between 2k & 4k miles a month for work so having a very comfortable ride is really important; also it gives an easy 40 mpg cruising at 80mph which is easy on the wallet.
