How many times did you fall in the water trying to get a beer out of the cooler in the trunk? lol:)

Those'd be good to have around Houston when Cypress Creek floods again.

any real questions?:lol
-
oh yah, did i mention one crossed the english channel?
-
Whats the range on the water? speed? fuel tank size? road speed? 4 wd?
-
milage in water averages 1.5 gallons per hour (cruising)
speed on water averages about 6-7 knots
fuel tank holds 13 gallons
road speed is about 65mph (reely pushin it hard)
2 weel drive+ 2 prop drive (can run on both but bad for the transmission)

I always imagined him driving one..
-
the funny thing is my dad (who owns the car) has a beard.
-
Do they sell these in Cuba?
-
haha. but no, the US made up 98% of thier market. the rest being sold in the UK and germany. none that i know of were sold in cuba.
-
I saw one of these as a kid. This guy pulls up to our beach
and asks if he could use our boat ramp. We said sure, and my
jaw dropped as he just drove his car right into the water and
kept on going.
Was awesome :aok
-
yes, it turns heads everywhere it goes.
-
I'd rather get BTR-80 or 90. I'll feel much safer in it.

yes, but does it have tail fins? i didnt think so. you cant pick up chicks if you dont have tail fins.:aok
-
Who needs tail fins when you can have full biological and chemical protection.
-
This is misconception. Is not correct. Boat that is Car is Russian Inwention. Car that is Submarine is Cuban Inwention.

I think you're picking up the wrong chicks if you need full biological and chemical protection. But maybe our tastes are different. :p
-
HAHAHA!! MY POINT EXACTLY!!
-
but seriously, if you can find one for sale they cost at most around $20k. oh, and you know how people with rare cars wave at each other on the freeway? well amphi drivers pull over and talk.
-
I once spilled a bucket of minnows in my Corsica... that's about as close as I got to having a "Amphicar".... It really sucked driving it in the Summer heat..... "Smelt" like bad cooter....
:D
-
any other questions about the amphicar?
-
Can you eat green eggs and ham in it?
-
That thing passed all DOT safety tests?
-
Can you buy one that doesn't look like it was made in the 1950s?

it dont need to pass DOT standards cuz it is a vintage car
they all look exactly the same so they all have fins (part of the reason they failed is because by the time they went into production fins had gone out of style)
and that car is way too expencive for the average person.
-
THAT'S more like it Vulcan...yeah.
The cars shown in the top picture resemble something akin to a toy. They look unsuitable for anything other than a quick joyride on a dead calm lake or something.
The one you posted actually planes and looks like it could handle some "chop". I have no doubt that is more expensive than SIMDSY's cars, but at least that one has "utility".
