ever see combat? After some research on the net it is still unclear to me if it could be added to the game due to operational status. Some places say it was issued to operational units, others say it was too late for WWII . Anyone have any data on this ? thx ..........

Likely North American P-51H Mustang were too late to see action in WWII and for P-51K, it is the same from P-51D, but different propeller company (Aeroproducts Propeller) and K model saw action in WWII.

At least one P-51H squadron flew combat patrols during the last two weeks of the war... No Japanese were encountered. Very much like the F7F-2.... They were there, but the enemy wasn't.

Hmm.
About F7F-2 Tigercat. I know there is many rumors that Grumman F7F Tigercat supported ground roles before Japanese surrender in WWII, but I actually never believe that because there's no proof that they saw nor patrol before War ended (I almost read alot books about Naval fighters, including websites that they all say "Tigercats missed WWII"). If you got anything about F7F patrol/squadron in WWII, Widewing, then I like to learn about them.

A single VMF(N)-533 F7F-2N flew an acceptance test flight from Okinawa on August 14, 1945, the day before Japan surrendered. No Japanese aircraft were expected or encountered. This same aircraft had been delivered the day before. A quick acceptance inspection was done and the aircraft acceptance test flight performed that night to test and calibrate the radar.
That same day, the USS Langley (CVL-27) was about to depart Pearl Harbor to join the fleet off of Japan. Aboard was VF-19, the first active F8F-1 squadron in the Pacific.
