Here in the West, it's mass rain and flooding. Not typical.

Weird weather indeed.

We've had it pretty easy here in Texas. Only 6 inches below average rainfall. Have'nt hit that streak of 100+ degree days yet. Just a cool 97-99.

Ladies & Gentlemen we are on final approach to the apocolypse, on schedule. Please return your seats to the upright position, secure the tray tables in the seatback in front of you, place your head between yer legs and kiss yer best friend goodbye.

Aw geeze, now Hang yer making me feel like one of those apocolypse guys.

Either you're being sarcastic, and saying that any comment on the environmental conditions is tantamount to standing out in the street in yer jammies waving a sign, or you really do think that we're headed for some kind of environmental breakdown.

Which?

Neither myself, the governemnt or the scientific community have a reliable explanation for the ominious meterological portents and signs of impending doom.

Couldn't hurt to repent, right?

Since this sinner's soul is forfiet regardless, I enjoyed the hot dry winds today and did some sailplane towing... and wondered if there's slope lift or just thermals in hell?

Hey Meatwad I feel your pain, up here in Upper IL its terrible with the humidity. Yesterday we hit about 98 and at night, around 10pm it was stil 90!

Today is was worse, cloudy, humid, about mid 90, and to make matters worse, I wore pants!

We began hitting the 100's last month and it's already been staying around 108-114.

Sometimes it's over 100 degrees at midnight. It's 99 right now and the low will be around 85.

We have until about October before it really cools down.

Seeing that neither yourself, the government nor the scientific community have a reliable explanation for the ominous meteorlogical portents and signs of impending doom, is it cool with you that we just discuss what's happening today?... without some kinda jammy wearin' sign holdin' doomsday sayin' agenda stapled to it?

It's freakin' wet here. Okay?

Sure. Nice 'n cool inside with the A/C purring. Neat byproduct of the technology is it ain't humid in here either.

Have you ever noticed the sound of fresh ice dropped into a glass of sun tea? You can actually hear it sizzle and snap! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... that's goooooood.

I did see a guy in jammies with a 'repent now, the end is nigh' sign.. he looked pretty hot and sweaty in his toga 'n all. I just turned up the a/c another notch in the van as I drove by and I wondered......

is it a dry heat or humid in hell?

Dying here too, and 2 months of summer/year doesn't warrant to have an A/C. Funny thing is it used to be "hot" a couple of years ago, after the realy hot summer we had here a couple of years ago (a lot of elderly died in France)... now, whenever it goes above 70degs... you'll hear about "Heat wave attack!" on the news... I'm wondering when they are going to start giving it colour codes

Post by: Skuzzy on June 26, 2005, 09:45:01 AM
Been unusually warm for this time of the year here.  But the killer has been the dang humidity.  I feel like I have moved back to Corpus Christi.  Can't walk outside without turning into a sticky mess.
I cannot recall when the humidity has been this high for so long here.  It really makes it miserable.

we've had three weeks of non stop rain here in Miami and it has been interesting.  we live on a lake which is back about 100 feet from our back doors the lake is rising daily.  we are currently catching LMB where we used to mow.  I'm sure we will need to re do the beach once the water recedes.  the temperature has been unseasonably cool due to the mostly continous overcast. hello, hellooohooo,  is this the O' club?  :D

alright, well here's my status:

hee in Joisy it's been pretty cold until last week, Friday and yesterday it's been getting pretty hot and humid.

However, more than the heat what made me sweat was a strut on the plane which decided to extend almost fully as I was rolling onto the taxiway.

My home doesn't have A/C.   I don't use it in the car.  The temperature is in the 90's outside with typical Ohio humidity, and I'm perfectly happy.  I mowed the yard today.

It's called summer.

Come winter when we get a few inches of snow, the usual people will be showing their signs of the impending ice age, as usual.  Some things never change.

Central West Virginia has been dry. But we had a very wet Spring. But has only really heated up in the last couple days. Mid 90's, And the humidity was up today. It cools off at night, but its even more humid than the day, and intense fog forms early morning.

Weather like this is pretty much August Weather, where I live.

What we need is a good rain :(

oh!!! I though global warming was caused by the hot gases emitting from right wing conservatives throughout the world but mostly from the UK and USA.  guess I was wrong then.  my bad.

btw in America we keep our greenhouses securely shut and with all the seals intact, even the baby ones.  our greenhouse gases stay here. precious little of them are allowed to escape.  I'm not sure what the English do with their greenhouse gases though.  :D

I don't know but it seems that one of the rules is that you not try to moderate other posters but that you simply email HTC.   This is the one rule that I allways seen broken the most on this board pre and post closing.   People calling out for others to be moderated.

"I often get the impression that you should have been born in the twenties."

Twenties, seventies, not much difference really.  70 years hence we will look back on this time as quaint and old-fashioned as we look at the 1920's today, just as the people living in the 1920's thought they were living in a modern, high-tech world.

People will still be complaining about the heat in the summer, the cold in the winter, and farmers will still always be getting too much or not enough rain.

But seriously, wtf is wrong with a fission reactor or two? Doesn't consume enough cooling water? Not a big enough finale when it goes wrong? I know that the concept of glutony doesn't have such negative implications in the french culture, but damn.

And I hope they will be able to destroy it safely before it gets bombed in the next european war.
