Title: film viewer question
Post by: killnu on June 25, 2005, 10:57:07 PM
is it normal for speeds of con to fluctuate by 50-75 mph in a matter of a second?

Depends on what he's doing.

If your in level cruise, and you pull hard nose up into an immelman you can easily dump that much speed.

Even chopping the throttle and going full cross controlls will dump a lot of speed in a hurry. ie full right rudder, full left ailerons, full up elev.

We'd have to pretty much see the film.

KillnU, thats the net smoothing thingy in action.  If you notice the speeds, alt etc for a con far away move rather jerky and as they come closer in range the "jumps" are less pronounced.  Never heard any official word on this, it's just my gut feeling.  You can kind of see it if you switch to another con while he is 2+k away from you, it looks like he is on a crazy rollercoaster.
