start---->control panel----> game controllers.

Make sure it is recognized in windows here. Calibrate it here as well before going into AH. Once in AH you may need to set up your axis (although I didn't have to with mine).

Hope this helps Jetb.

Cheers,

Not tooo long ago, my MS stick died, and I purchased an evo as a quick fix until I could find another MS on ebay.

One thing I did that helped me out tremendously was the spring at the base of the stick, where it meets the base, I created some "shims" for it.  I would push the spring up, and slide in a shim.  I messed with diff. types of shims, starting with cardboard, and diff. thinckness to create more tension. By putting in the shims, I increased the "resistance" of the stick, and found it much easier to controll.  Got the idea from someone here on the BBS.

Yeah its very smooth. My old stick every move i did use to stall my plane out. Now with thise stick it does not. Im still missing a few shots due to me not being use to rudder, but im sure ill get use to it :)

Opps typo 22"

I have dual Monitors the 22" crt I use for gaming and as the main.  CRT's refresh faster than LCD's and have clearer images.  Than I have a 19" lcd as well.  Both are high end and if you look at them closely you can see the CRT edges the LCD out in crispness and clarity.  The crt is connected via DVI and the lcd is connected via SVGA.

A couple of suggestions to you Jet...

I'm on my 4th Saitek (2 Cyborgs 2 Evos) If you get more than 8 months out of them, consider yourself lucky. I bought my last one at Best Buy and got the $8 replacement rider. Reason being, the pots give out rather quickly and you tend to get a lot of nose bounce. Also the circular stick base tends to get sticky - in which case a Q-tip and a dab of Vaseline will correct.

Suggest you calibrate it every time you enter the arena. When they get "iffy" you may have to calibrate it every sortie. That's when you go back to Best Buy with the replacement rider and Evo hand in hand :)

I couple my Evo with a CH Throttle USB. I've got vox (both), flaps, gear, trim, seat positions, clipboard, zoom in-out, look-up modifier, and of course throttle all programmed to the CH. You can prolly find on on E-Bay for $50 or less. Just make sure it's USB.

Good luck...remember--- Saitek's like a box of chocolates.....

Forgot something...

do a search in the Help & Training section for "ack ack" he's got a stick scale cfg file linked to one of his posts that works real well with the Evo...especially if you're flying a Typhoon...which according to Coach, you do

It is all in good fun.  I just stir the pot and have fun with it.  The guys I've suckered into the DA by purse swinging come in and realize I am not really hot under the collar just having fun.

Evo/Cyborg @ $35.00 (ave) * 4 = $140.00
(crappy gimble, crappy pots)

CH Fighterstick USB = $111.99
(Nice gimble, a little light, excellent pots that can be replaced direct from CH. Saitek does not sell parts)

A bit of a no brainer to me. True you don't get a rudder with the fighterstick but one more Saitek stick and you are very close to a set of pedals.

IMO, CH is the best overall value due to durability and realiability. Are they perfect? No, I did like my Saitek throttle better. I see why GHI still uses his.

Replacing a stick every 8 months is just insane. You'd be better off just replacing the pots with some better quality hardware. I'm on 14 months on my CH gear and not a single issue.

Now, if I only took the same approach to headsets/mics. I'm on my 5th set now. Still have not paid over $15.00 for one.
