The celebrations have been overshadowed by a row over political correctness.
The authorities decided not to re-enact Trafalgar, opting instead for a Napoleonic sea battle pitting a red navy against a blue navy.
The decision has been described as "pretty stupid" by the great, great, great granddaughter of Admiral Nelson and Emma Hamilton.
Mrs Anna Tribe, 75, said: "I am sure the French and Spanish are adult enough to appreciate we did win that battle.
"I am anti political correctness. Very much against it. It makes fools of us."
P.C. at its worst. "oh no!! we are not allowed to celebrate our greatest ever sea battle! it may upset the french!"
dont mention the F word

Just send them a mean letter demanding it to be as it was. I'm sure they'll fold;)

Well, it's good to see that you guys are just as stupid as we are. Or maybe bad to see. I dunno, stupid pc crap.

It really is amazing how Admiral Nelson is so revered after such a long time. I was invited to a Trafalgar Day dinner two years ago...and all those in attendance worship the man.
Nelson.
I think the Queen should tell her "authorities" and the French and Spanish to "Kiss my Hardy". :)

Load real shot.
"There is no way of dealing with the Frenchman but to knock him down - to be civil to them is to be laughed at." [/i]

Nelson was one heck of a guy.. a brilliant tactician and Naval Officer, England owes him a helluva debt for his tenacious pursuit of the Enemy.
My Favorite Nelson Quote...
Never break the neutrality of a port or place, but never consider as neutral any place from whence an attack is allowed to be made. [/i]
..and of course, the Signal Hoist at Trafalgar. One can't help but cinch up his belt and stand a bit straighter reading this flying from the signal yardarm of HMS Victory as she lead the much smaller English flotilla under the guns of the very much larger combined French and Spanish fleet:
England Expects that every man will do his duty.[/i]

Their Carrier is literally twice the size of our largest ship - HMS Ocean!

For the record, it was not my intention to flaimbait, troll, or "post to incite or annoy." If that's how it was interpreted, my apologies.

Quiz:
Who can correctly identify the awards and medals he's wearing?
-
Is the big one a "best garden" award?
-
No no no, that one is the best Knitting award. The best gardening is the little one.

The fireworks were the best I've ever seen anywhere. For all his faults, I'm proud to belong to the same nation as him.
