Just wondering....... Is there a way to make the background that the reticle is framed on transparent?
I know the alpha will make the reticle lighter or darker, but what about the blue screen the reticle is in?
Look at the gunsight on the Tempest...... It dosent have that screen like on other planes. Is this just a mistake in the modeling of the tempest or can it be done?
Nice clear background.

Not sure what you are asking but you can make anything in the background transparent if you are using a 2 file gunsight with an alpha file just make everything you want transparent pure black (0,0,0)
Download Waffles gunsights and see how they are done. That's how I learned.

the new gunsight model does not need the "alpha" file.
now true black is transparent on the main image.
also, gunsights have to be 256 (8 bit) color.
though i suspect he is talking about the actual reflector glass part of the gunsight.
no those can not be changed, they are part of the 3D model.
some are "tinted" like the german ones, to help block sunlight and stuff. if you are seeing these as a blue shade i suspect you are having some kind of graphics problem, because they are mostly just grayish, making it a bit dimmer looking through them.
waffle's new sights are a good starting point to understand how sights are made.
remember though the outter pixel of the sights need to be black or the last color will tile over the rest of the recticle

JB73,
Didnt know what to call it....Yes the reflector part.
If you look at the Tempest it dosent have one.
was it just missed when they made it?
I was wondering if that could be done myself or it just was missed on the tempest.
