first thing is to make sure you have the proper drivers installed for your video card.

then make sure directx is updated.

I have Direct X 9.0 and I guess my drivers have been installed properly because it only started happening after my comp crashed.

when you say "crashed" do you mean it was re-formatted from scratch?

then i would say 99% positive the drivers are either the wrong ones, wrong version, or corrupt install.

if "crash" means it shut off all on it's own, and you were able to turn it back on now all fine, then i'd say heat damage of some sort, or something else is corrupt.

what i meen by crashed is that our comp lost everything and we had to start from stage 1 all over again.
Also, how come video resoulution box is empty and the video card selection box is empty?

Sounds like U using default windows video drivers.  U need to install the drivers for your specfic video card, sound card, etc...

Directx is not your drivers.  Its a code for your video card, soundcard, etc., to be used by a givin application or game.

Because u are using the windows default drivers.  If u using a geforce FX or older video card, get the 61.77 drivers from http://www.Nvidia.com.  I you are using the geforce 6 series the get latest drivers also from http://www.nvidia.com

nope.

uninstall the drivers associated with your video card, and reboot.

upon start up, windows will auto-detect the "new devise" the video card. DO NOT let it procede and install drivers.

once you have stopped the driver install run the EXE for the new driver install.

you will have to re-boot again.

once back up goto c:\programfiles\HTC\Aces high II\settings

and delete the video8.cfg file

then you should be able to start AH, and do the video setup

Each video card maker creates specific "drivers" (software) for their cards. These drivers allow the card to be used to its full potential.

It sounds like your card is currently using the "default" windows VGA drivers because you did a clean install and windows DOES NOT supply the video drivers for your specific card. The "default" windows driver(s) ... does not unlock the full potential for your card.

I don't believe, at this point, that you really need to uninstall any video drivers cause you are running on windows "default" drivers.

Go to the site that MwDogg provided and get the 61.77 version drivers for your card.

Read the installation instruction on the site ... install the drivers (after downloading the install program). You will then be asked to re-boot your box.

When the box re-boots and you get to the windows desktop, you will see that the new drivers have been detected and will now be loaded and associated to your card. You will be asked if you want to load the new drivers (possibly twice) answer OK to the questions.

Now that the drivers are loaded ... do what JB73 said ...

once back up goto c:\Program Files\HTC\Aces high II\settings

and delete the video8.cfg file

Now start the game up ... AH should now see your card and the video sizes that it will support.

Instructions for proper install of video drivers.

Pick 1 driver:

Nvidea - http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp - go here and download the drivers to your desktop.

ATI - http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/....x=5&submit.y=4 - go here and download the drivers to your desktop.

Omega tweaked drivers. Recommended by Nvidea and ATI - http://www.omegadrivers.net/main.php - go here and download the drivers to your desktop.

Now get this:
http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/ - Put it on your desktop

Now install DRIVER CLEANER

Go to add and remove programs and remove all references to ATI or Nvidea.

Restart in safe mode. Usually by clicking the f8 button during reboot.

DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING if windows asks.

.

Run DRIVER CLEANER AND CLICK THE CLEAN button.

Then restart. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING once again. It's ok, all will be well :)

When you reach your desktop click on the driver you downloaded and follow prompts.

Restart..

If you have any problems read the helpfile that comes with DRIVE CLEANER.

Thank you SlapShot I did what you said and it worked. But some things didn't happen. Like when I restarted my box nothing happened and when I went to delete the video8 file my settings folder was empty.
