Title: Killshooter Effect
Post by: EagleDNY on June 29, 2005, 04:19:58 PM
Since I'm not one to put rounds into folks flying on my side, I have yet to experience the "killshooter" thing.

Can someone explain exactly what the deal is with killshooter?  What happens when you put lead into a plane that is on your side?

EagleDNY

Got a couple of years to spare ?

Do a search on "killshooter" ... you will have much more than you asked for.

Put lead into a friendly and YOU sustain the damage of the strikes.  Simple.

The rest of the story is the endless argument one way or the other.  I like being able to frag a teammate once...with the second offense in a day causing a 24 hour standdown.

That would give you one freebie in a fight.....hmmm, just like real life, you could ping a mate.

We should have a

NKSH(Non-Kill Shooter Hour) every friday or saturday!

 HT will walk in and announce;

"it's this week's NKSH hour, folks!"

And then let chaos rule the MA for a full hour!!

Well kill shooter works this way. While you can blast away at an enemy 200 yards in front, and get nothing but sparks, God forbid you accidently hit a team mate 800 yards in front on some high deflection shot. Youll be be back in ther tower.

It was explained to me that kill shooter shots are always added to fueselage damage. I just write it off as gamey stuff kinda like the bombers, and the magnetic debris field.. JMHO of course.

as i recall in Airwarrior for windows(on AOL..i dunno about compuserve), they had it set up if you killed a teammate 2 times in one day, you were PNG in your country for a 24 hour period. So you had to switch countries if you wanted to fly. They changed it when airwarrior2 and 3 came out on gamestorm. (At least thats the way i remember it)

I kind of like this idea. It would really stop people from shooting over your shoulders.

There are of course drawbacks to this idea, but there are flaws in every system.

I played AW the last few years it was alive. If you KILLED two fellow countrymen within a certain period of time, you became PNG in that country. That meant you got no bullets. Happened to me once, I killed two guys flying real low, they zoomed in as I dropped several bombs. They were actually in my squad.

LOL, it isn't quite that bad, I've had guys in the squad cut me off, only when I'm in an all cannon bird is it instant death. I've never seen it strictly put hits only in critical areas of the plane, or only in the fuselage.

It is the system they chose from among many choices. You can live with it, agree or not. It could be worse.

Imagine a squad mission, flying escort for bombers.... nothing in sight except all the little green men.... practice attack passes on bombers... shoot from an angle from wich you NEVER EVER managed to land a hit... short burst from 4 hispanos... .....

OhOHOHOHOOHOH.... Not one bullet missing the right wing of the fellow lancs... a whole bunch of laughing squaddies...

Thats Killshooter.

Once in a BF110 I came hammering down on a town.

I let off a huge burst of the 4 20's and 2 30's just as another knight came in from my right strafing the same target.

He must have taken half teh burst.

My poor 110 just shattered

Pity would have been an awsome kill if it had been an NME

but even with things like the above I think kill shooter in the MAis a good thing, there are to many fools out there who will start shooting anyone once their board. its the quake effect on the gaming world.

Later all

This is how I thought it worked as well; however, HT popped up and said that was the AH1 method, and that it now apperently maps to the closest corresponding parts on your plane. I tried this, and oddly enough, HT is right.

Also, I have hit friendlies at d800 on my FE while trying to tag a bad guy at d200. Mind you, I can't hit the ground consistently at that range, but I can hit anything with a green icon. Hope the bad guy got a good laugh out of that one.
